Gods_Father"No one looks down on Christianity or white people"
clearly this kid just lives in a sugar-coated reality, also offended by clothes. Prob just needs to watch some videos of men beating the fuck out of Christian women...
AgitatedHiatusAre you saying I'm offended by clothes or that butterslut is? Sorry, it's finals time here at school and my brain is completely fried.
Gods_FatherHaha not you. Good luck on finals!
intifadaIs this a race issue for you or a religious one? I'm confused because you're talking like there are no white muslims when there are millions of them in Eastern Europe.
AgitatedHiatusThis just might be one of the dumbest things I have ever read.

butterslut.I don't exclusively fight for "clothing rights". There are a lot of different beliefs I hold and battles I fight. I'm just giving my opinion in this thread, like OP fucking asked for lol
butterslut. It's not a "race issue for me", but yes it's a race issue.
Hmm really? Why?
AgitatedHiatusCultural Appropriation is a joke. All languages around the world have words and phrases from different languages. If a white guy starts to speak spanish, is that cultural appropriation too? Is that bad?
J.D.You can attempt to justify it however you like, but cultural appropriation as a negative is an invented moral theory whose sole purpose is to create dividing lines between people of different ethnic backgrounds so as to treat them as groups first and individuals second. Freedom of expression demands that each individual can express themselves - including through clothing and hairstyles - exactly as they see fit, and no one else should bring their own moral judgment to bear so as to preclude those avenues of expression. That's called "liberalism".
The whole point of moral progress is that we examine different ideas (whether they be sourced in ethnic cultures or otherwise), adopt what we think is good and discard what we think is bad or doesn't work. Avoiding ideas because the people who invented them have different coloured skin than we do or speak a different language isn't "respect", it's well-meaning racism. Cultural appropriation is one of the main ways societies make progress, including cultural progress.
S.J.WSo when a school bans black hairstyles, all while Kylie Jenner is being praised for being fashion forward that's making progress? Like I said above, there's nothing wrong with taking from a certain culture. But there is a lot wrong from taking from a culture for fashion or whatever purposes and ignoring all of the problems within said culture. Like systemic racism within the black culture, like the stripping of native land. Like ignoring all the problems created by the stolen generation and thinking aboriginal face paint is "funny" and a "good costume".
S.J.Wcultural appropriation isn't just taking something from a certain culture. It's taking an aspect of their culture (head dresses for example) and ignoring all of the problems within their culture whilst benefiting from said culture. For example, a school in kentucky (1) banned black hairstyles. All while Kylie Jenner is being praised as a fashion icon for having cornrows. Meanwhile, a white rapper like macklemore isn't nearly as slammed (I can think of like two rappers that have slammed macklemore) for "cultural appropriation". Why?? Because Macklemore isn't just benefiting from being a white rapper, and ignoring the issues in the black community. He's actively trying to make a change and educate people. (2) That's why no one gives a shit when black people take from "white culture" because white people don't have any systematic problems.

J.D."So when a school bans black hairstyles, all while Kylie Jenner is being praised for being fashion forward that's making progress?"
Did I say this? Pretty sure I didn't say this. Pretty sure I said the opposite, which is that people should be able to express themselves however they want.
There is nothing wrong with taking from a certain culture, period. It's not contingent on anything else. There is no duty inherent in adopting an idea or concept that you think is a good one. It does not impose some moral obligation on you. Either you already had the moral obligation, or you didn't.
In other words, either a person should be worried about systemic racism within black culture or encroachments on native land, or they shouldn't, and the answer to that question has nothing to do with how they choose to wear their goddamned hair or what music they enjoy listening to. These things are in no way logically linked.
Moral confusion abound...
S.J.WSo when you create something, it's your thing. You've been doing it for longer and better than anyone else, and someone comes along, takes your thing and profits widely from it, you wouldn't care? Aren't you a lawyer or something? What if you worked super hard on a case, only for me to come, take all your notes and then take all the credit for the work you did?

hemlockjibber8Then the question is why is it funny to dress as a muslim? This is 'racism'.
death_gripswearing islamic clothes would be neither cool, funny or interesting. people would think you just looked like a dickhead who was trying to poke fun at somebody else's culture.
CampeadorIslam deserves to be pocked fun at, it's a depraved, backwards political ideology.
Do you get the same level of upset when someone dresses as a Catholic priest?
death_gripswell no because catholics are currently not a demonised sub-culture. I think all religion is kinda backwards to be honest, but doing little bitchy attacks on it isn't going to do shit.
you're probably not very bright are you?
CampeadorFor the record, which race is "muslim" again?
Gods_FatherPretty hilarious opinion. "Nobody looks down on Christianity or white people"....No persecution of Christians by Muslims? Not even in Pakistan eh?

butterslut. But, if another race is "racist" against white people that's because of white people being racist towards them.
butterslut.Sure, I guess I worded that incorrectly. I did state what I meant though. I mean I definitely look down on white people. I think as a conglomerate we are trash. But, if another race is "racist" against white people that's because of white people being racist towards them.
butterslut.I mean I definitely look down on white people. I think as a conglomerate we are trash.
J.D.I also wish people would stop conflating a religious ideology with a race, but let's be honest, if he's wearing an "Islam Costume" he's probably dressing as an Arab, and it's totally right to point out that whether or not that's just an instance of the OP being an asshole depends on his intentions. But I see no particularly good reason to do this that isn't asshole-related, really. It's not like people typically wear arabic garb as a costume, it's not as if he's saying "can I dress up as a Viking" or something like that. Why would it be funny? I guess to troll insufferable, self-righteous people like SJW, and get them to freak out? That's also pretty much just being an asshole, regardless of how utterly dumb (yet totally sanctimonious) those people are.
Gods_FatherHahahahahahaha ya, ok! Stupid idiot
.Hugo.Thank god. Before this post i thought there was a possibility you werent trolling
CampeadorIf anyone was still wondering why Donald Trump won.
butterslut.I don't understand what you mean. like, if you took that post completely seriously and you think that I think that white people are entirely trash, then wouldn't that mean that I'm racist against white people and that I support someone other than trump? Because trump is generally viewed as being racist against PoC. lol pls explain.
butterslut.lol pls explain.
butterslut.oh my god. haha ok. this is literally text book information. but alright. I'm an idiot.
Gods_FatherTextbook information? So historically, Muslims persecute Christian white people because white people were racist to them? Hahahahah! Fantasy land alert...trust me, you are indeed a stupid idiot.
butterslut.unless you're muslim, don't wear a robe associated with the religion. for that matter, don't wear clothing associated with any religion or culture as party attire. that's called cultural appropriation.
butterslut.I mean I definitely look down on white people. I think as a conglomerate we are trash. But, if another race is "racist" against white people that's because of white people being racist towards them.
butterslut. No one looks down on Christianity or White people and if they do it's because they have been marginialized by them.
skiermanYes, violence is the answer and you should be ashamed if your fat. Fuck off already.
.frenchyYou should be ashamed if you don't know the proper use of the word 'you're'.
