Thinking about switching to FKS 140s??

Wrong forum, but anyways, 100% depends on what kind of skier you are and what kind of skiing you want to do, also factors like height and weight, I've seen people ski griffons for seasons with no issues, as well as seeing people who ski them for a week and hate/break them. I personally have skied both fks and griffons, and honestly the griffons were okay for me because when I had them I was just getting started in park so they were light and easy to snap in etc, I was also like 13, now I'm 16 and I enjoy fks way more, definitely way heavier and burlier but I never misseject, and I don't think I would ever switch to a different binding, because they are way more durable and I feel 100%.l confident i won't release unexpectedly etc. however just because I / other people of newschoolers like a binding doesn't mean it's going to be the best for you, we definitely need more information like height weight age, and what kind of skiing you do mostly (although judging by skis I would assume park)

Ya missed the part about them being demo bindings.

OP, run from those bindings and get fks or literally any binding that isn't a demo.

the 140 has a lower din range and if you're skiing 178 cm I'm guessing you're fairly big, so I'd go with the fks 180 because the range is higher. Of course, if you're a beginner or a not very aggressive skier then the 140 is fine.

fks 140 will not break and will be more reliable in the park. Personally I can tell the difference even on groomers carving around on my pivots(very similar). The geometry of the binding gives you a better feel for the ski under you in my opinion, and its nothing compared to the markers in that regard. They may be lighter than the demos... not sure though.

While others here might disagree, I found the marker demo bindings to be alright. I used them for a season of daily park riding before they janked out. I'd probably save your money until you actually need new bindings. Also, I have never noticed any sort of significant performance increase by getting a more expensive binding.

That said, either the non-demo griffin or the FKS 140 would be a good choice for ya when you need a new pair.

Usually people have to run a higher DIN than normal due to the increased stack height torquing the boot more than typical to say nothing of the weight, play in binding interface or flex issues.

But then again, there are a bunch of dudes who rip in 2nd hand ill fitting boots. So the moral of the story is run what you got. But if money isn't a huge issue, I think it'd be dumb to not get a "real" binding.

Thanks for the replies everyone, but to answer you Shoey: I'm 5'10" and weigh about 160lbs. I ski all mountain with about 50% park. Am pretty sure that a 14 din would be plenty for me and wasn't really looking at the FKS 180s lol. I ski pretty aggressively all the time and am currently working my way to hitting more medium to large size features. I know the FKS are a bit higher quality than the griffons, but my biggest concern was with having the Demo binding and what kind of effect that would have on ski feel/performance because of the added height. Fks 140 would be perfect for you then , you definitely don't need a higher din than that

^Unless you're charging super hard, you will most likely be totally fine with 140s. I'm 6'3" 180lb, aggressive skier, and ski 13 din bindings with no problems.

Ive got two pairs of marker jester demos on two new sets of skis.. this thread is making me regret it.. but Ive ridden them on a pair of demo skis before and they kept me locked in all day one i got them adjusted and set to where I want. They seem to be a pretty decent binding, and being demo doesnt change that much in my opinion, just a little heavier but im not throwing tricks, especially on a 192 ski.

You think with me being at 170 lbs, 6 feet tall, 3+ skier im fine with demo jesters?
