2016 Base plate Touring Bindings whats changed?

So found my thread from 4years ago ended up with the Magic J obviously but still looking for bindings haha. So has anything changed over the 4 years with these bindings or is this still a pretty solid review/info on them.

kapsySo been out of the ski news for a little while (3ish years) so I bought a first edition Magic J on the off season really cheap and then never got to ski on them and never got them mounted. Finally back in a stable income job and going to japan next year.

I am mainly wondering if anything has changed over the last few years to the bindings like the Guardian/tracker, Duke and AAAdrenalin and what are your experiences with these bindings are and recommendations.

I remember people saying the Adrenalin had issues with breaking since tyrolia kinda rushed them out to compete with Salomon and Marker.

The Magic J is the 180 length, im 178cm and around 80kg.

All and any feedback info greatly appreciated.

I have the magic j with the trackers and they are a super solid binding, however, to be fair I think the magic J is a bit too wide for a really good touring set up however, they may be great in japan!

surprisingly it doesnt seem like a lot has changed lately with these frame bindings. that said, i was in the same deciding process as you are and i went with the adrenalins-- way fewer reported problems and gripes about them from what ive seen and i loved mine when i used them...i plan to get another pair soon for a new pair of skis

The Guardian/Tracker has a three piece heel (easy to step into in pow), allows you switch go into walk mode without unclicking, and has the lowest stand height. It has the most reported durability issues, creates the largest dead spot under the binding, and you can't tour flat.

The Baron/Duke is shorter than the guardian, can tour flat and is more durable than the guardian. It has the highest stand height, you need to take your boot off to go into tour mode and it has a two piece heel that is harder to step into in pow.

The Adrenalin can actually allow the ski to flex somewhat independently because of how the heel is held down, so its dead spot is comparable to the marker, it tours flat, and has a three piece heel. The durability is on par if not better than the marker. It is also the lightest. The stand height is close to the same as the marker.

How much would you say the stand height affects yours skiing I know the guardian is 10mm/1cm lower then duke/adrenaline does it make a difference? Doesnt sound like much.

im really particular about stand height for park skis and my bindings always reflect that, but in this situation im not sure i even notice a difference. switching back and forth between park skis with p12 jibs (super small stand height) and my touring skis with adrenalins i never even thought about it

So decided that I am going to get the tyrolias AAAdrenalin but looking online there are short and long versions apparently, so if my ski boots are 265 should I be going for the short?

I used to have dukes and I found the stand height pretty annoying. Right now I have magic js with guardians and the bindings feel exactly like a normal alpine binding. Being able to switch to touring without taking my boot out is pretty nice also though not being able to tour flat can be really annoying. I can't really comment on the dead spot because I have only ridden them with guardians so I don't know what the normal flex would be like.
