Rossignol Blackops...

Over three years ago Dahrkness and myself helped develop a much needed pow ski with Rossignol. After much anticipation that ski is now available in a very limited run to all of you. I won't go into details but just know that these come with a sealed stamp of approval by me and Dahrk. Very proud to announce The Rossignol Blackops.

Got these in our shop. Not gonna lie, this ski looks unreal. It's like they stuck the rocker profile of the Helldorado on the Sickle and stiffened it almost as much then blended the tips with the 7 Series. They only come in 183 which is fuckin perfect for me. These are built to have FKS 180s put on them and railed through everything at high Mach. Oh and it's all black except for the Rossi logos. Mmmmm...

I don't think they will come in any longer than a 186. However there is a 176 in the works...

I was disappointed with that too.

But then I realized it doesn't really matter. I'm sure they're specs that match up with the 186 length and 118 waist.

And to be fair, I only know the size and waist width of my Kartel and Jeffrey's. and every other ski I own aha. I don't memorize the tip/tail width, weight, turning radius, etc.

I'm sure they wanted to have that "black ops" aspect of it and realized that most people only care about waist width and length.

Zoom in quite a bit and you can read almost everything that's blacked out.

Yeah I didn't zoom in.

I was just saying that most people could care less what the tip/tail width is and the radius. Its always something I check out before I buy, but I doubt I'm going to ever read a pair of specs on a ski that looks fun and then be turned away.

Rossi has never been known for their fit and finish on skis, especially their park skis. i have the same in my scratches and slats but they hold up fine. if it bothers you that much, just put epoxy in it or even just clear nail polish to seal it.

Radius is one of the first things i look at in a ski. I would absolutely never buy a brand new without knowing its radius.

I feel you there. I wouldn't buy a pow ski that had a 14m radius or a 50m radius, but I feel like these are somewhere around 25m just like every other pow ski. Ya know? I definetly look at them before I buy, but the majority of people don't. And I doubt the turning radius of the blackops is something I would be turned off by. That's what I'm trying to get at

id say a mid-flex, maybe a bit stiffer. Not like the blend, which is super soft and playful. but its not nearly as stiff as, say, the volkl mantra (which is just a board with plastic and metal on one side haha)

In the end it's silly that the end consumer needs to do calculations to determine basic things like sidecut radius and mount location.

Should be renamed to the Rossignol Trumpops...it's the best, it's just the best ski. Best sidecut radius, best dimensions, best smeary-fest-ness. Trust me, it's the best.

I really wish I lived in a place that actually gets more snow than rain in the winter, unfortunately if it snows, it is almost always followed by rain that day or the next. No need for pow skis here but those look sexy as fuck.

I love to gear nerd out over stats and shit, but in the end it's all just a starting point anyway. When you factor in effective edge vs effective edge on rocker, and variable flex patterns, it all goes to shit. Once I saw/flexed these skis, I ordered them immediately. It didn't matter what the exact turning radius or tip/tail width were, it looked like a fun ski, and I knew I'd have fun skiing it.
Doin all the measurements / calculations / guessing has been really fun. A test of my 'knowledge' and experience, and somethin I've never done before without the answers. I'm excited to find out how close my numbers are.

Tldr : they look fun, that was enough for me

A 186 pow ski is a ski "for full growed men"?

That size is for folks 5'10" and under. And now they're offering an even smaller ski too? Sucks they only make sizes fit for medium sized people and smaller.

Also, weight would be an interesting stat to hear from them. Always cool to see what a pro model ski turns out to be. I'm looking forward to some in depth reviews

Don't be an elitist, 186 is a perfectly acceptable length ski for people taller than 5'10". Totally fine if you personally prefer a longer ski than that, but what's true for you isn't true for everyone.

Not plenty...most people at or above 6 foot who aren't a feather are gunna want longer than 186. I'm 5'10 and the smallest I will go is 186
