Shock absorbing footbeds?

Good custom footbeds will be your best bet. But not all fottbeds are the same. The important factor is to have the foot start in a neutral position and then allow it to flex in a controlled manner. This flex is a little like the shocks on your car. Your foot is designed to naturally cushion every step you take but skiing the forces are greater then the foot can natural handle. A footbed helps control the amount the arches collapse and thus allow you to take impacts better.

Brands like sidas or foot doctor allow the foot to start in this neutral position so will work the best. Footbeds such as the ones made by surefoot do it slightly differently. They support the foot in a riding position at its maximum compression (pronation) and stop it from going further. In some applications this can work well but they will not do a good job of cushioning impacts. Stick to a footbed which holds the foot in neutral before flexing.

Im trying to take this route on my FTs. Im not sure if you can do so on Quests, but I'm taking the soft footboard from a different model and putting them in my Classics

I got the Salomon Quest Pro 120 at the beginning of last season and put Super Feet Green insoles in them. The boots are super comfy and the insoles create a noticeable difference in shock absorption compared to a boot without an insole. I definitely recommend getting some sort of custom insole, it makes the boots fit much better imho and it allows you to go all day without getting sore feet. Obviously it might be different for you, and I definitely recommend seeing a boot fitter, but that's just my 2 cents.

just bought the qst 120 should be here tomorrow super stoked and im making n appontment with a bootfiter for footbeds should be good! thanks for the reply!
