Legalization of Weed Effects in Skiing

Will the legalization of marijuana lead to a rush out of CO, leading to the decrease in housing pricing due to more people leaving and the demand for housing to lower?

Just wondering what the long term effects of legalization can lead to that can effect the ski community.

MA is in a unique spot unlike CO because New England is so small that you need to drive through MA to get to the real good destinations in VT. NA and ME (not to mention all 3 of those are rec potentials as well). As far as effects in skiing goes you will probably get an increase in tourism for Wachusett and other small areas for now but I feel like you will find people booking hotels for a night or two in MA, buying their weed, then heading up to ski. Once VT or NH has rec i think that's where you'll see more of an impact in the ski industry.

NH will not be happening any time soon unfortunately. Our house and senate has a strong stance on substance abuse and groups pot in the same category as opiates. And given our current heroin/opiate crisis they believe now is definitely not the time to legalize ANY drug. So it's safe to say NH will be supplied by the rec states that surround it far before it considers following suit.

I didn't mean it would happen this year or anything but even just by MA passing rec Malloy in CT has already announced he will reconsider a legalization bill for CT. I'm just saying MA legalizing plays a pivotal role for the rest of the states in NE who are also considering rec.

FYI MA and CT are in the middle of that same opiate crisis

Well yeah.. the entire north east is in the middle of it. But NH will do what it does best and take the safest approach possible.

I'm not so familiar with CT's state government, so I have no comment on their progress. But I am quite familiar with NH's views and can say with confidence that we wont move any closer to legalization with the elected officials currently in office. Our newly elected governor (former CEO who bankrupted waterville valley) views pot as a gateway drug, as does Maggie Hassan in the senate. Even talk of loosening of the decriminalization laws has been shot down.

Not saying it will never happen. I'm just saying we will be the last state in New England, and likely a good majority of the east at large, to legalize.

Right now the legalization of recreational marijuana puts a lot of restrictions on weed. And now that it's regulated too.

Once it becomes more accepted into society it won't be bad. But it's easier and cheaper to get weed right now without the government regulating it.

Also there's growing laws that can really complicate things for your grower lol.

There's people out there who didn't vote for legal weed but smoke a shit ton. Because the legalization wouldn't benefit them at all. But on the contrary the legalization would allow for weed to be accepted into society, which is also something the stoners want too.

Legal weed means I can get high quality, highly potent bud, highly pure wax, and gourmet edibles that is very easy to purchase. It is cheaper if you get medical which is super fucking easy. It is taxed which gives very needed funding to public schools and other programs.

Buying from a street dealer means paying the same or more for MUCH less potent bud, a fuckton more for wax that looks like diarrhea and tastes like chinese food, and the only way to get edibles is to make them yourself and knowing very little about the dosage. Hell, one time when I was a noob I got sold fucking spice and was told it was weed, thank god I had experienced friends.

So you are saying that legalizing weed puts more restrictions on it than it being illegal, suuuuure buddy. Maybe it's just because I'm comparing Colorado to Montana, but still.

What type of restrictions? Purchasing limits, store hours, DUID, fed land, growing?? The restrictions aren't really frustrating at all or infringing on shit people used to do anyway before legalization.

I dunno what you're smoking but legalization makes it wayyy cheaper and easier . There's hundreds of dispensaries within 20 minutes of me and many dispos sell 1/8 for $15-30 and oz start at like $110. Plus you have the accessibility of dabs and edibles. After all, Rec just makes med cards much easier to get for people who don't want to pay high taxes and are under age (18+).

Growing laws such as? Caregivers and dispensaries (usually) have nothing to hide, and 6 indoor plants seems pretty reasonable for personal cultivation.

I understand legalization has some downsides, but the pros heavily outweigh the cons currently and hopefully in the future as well. Eh well maybe not after Trump fucks everything up haha

Maggie thinks that even decriminalization is bad because kids would look at it and think its ok to do, because its just a violation, like oh no they should go to jail for a small bag of weed...Thank fuck I live close to the border, and even better that Ill be 21 by the time dispensaries start opening in MA.

Just hope NH changes, more than half the state supports full legalization yet were barely medicinal.

Are you kidding. Do you even know where illegal weed comes from? You don't know the strains, you don't know when it was harvested, and you have no type of CBD or THC percentage. Legal weed is good shit, especially when you buy top shelf nug. Everything is grown indoors in perfect environments on an industrial scale. Not to mention the concentrates are all made in real labs with expensive equipment. There's stuff coming out over 90% pure. To anyone who really appreciates canabis this is clearly the better option

I could honestly care less if it's legalized or not in the state, as long as it gets decriminalized. We need to stop ruining kids lives for getting caught with a damn plant, and cops need to focus on real issues rather than busting dime bags.

I guess there was an NPR report yesterday that cited Chris Sununu is in favor of decriminalizing up to an oz. It'll be interesting to see how Maggie and the rest of those fucks interpret/adopt the governor's views.

She'll just talk about that worsening the heroin problem or some shit, I mean she clearly doesnt want pot legal but her whole fucking state either does, maybe doesnt or doesnt give a shit.

Theres some undercover mini van around and Im not sure what its for, most likely the heroin. Saw him talking to a young mid 20s guy on the side of the road last week and there was another officer near the pulled over car in a vest. Then got a snapchat that night I think from a friend of someone pulled over by him furthur down on the same road I saw him on. Dont remember if the person was out of or in their car or not. Just kinda sketchy and not cool to have around, made eye contact with the dude from across the road 60 ft away, baked.

At least here in BC, it is much more expensive to buy from dispensaries. I normally pay $30-40/g for shatter, and $50/g for rosin. From a dispensary it would be $60-100 for shatter and $100-160/g for rosin. There really isn't much of a quality difference if you have decent connections. I think prices are going to have to keep coming down for people to really abandon the black market. That being said I'm looking forward to more pot shops being around, so I don't have to wait for lazy dealers.

Even if the laws don't allow for people to do exactly what they're doing it's still much better for them.

Saying it's better when it's illegal is fucking stupid.

Let's say somebody has 8 plants and the new law only allows 4. Even though they have 4 more than they're allowed to, it's still far better in the legal sense than when marijuana was illegal, and you couldn't have any.

Of course there are some major hoops to jump through for having large scale legal grows. You can't just open a bar selling alcohol one day without talking to anybody. The thing is, those hoops are what they need to go through to be legitimized. If they don't want to they can still keep doing what they're doing, and even then it will be better than before. IF they do and it works out, they entered into a newly legitimized industry and a massively growing mark.

Also in places where it's been legalized, the costs have gone down, while the quality has gone up. All this while raking absurd amounts of tax dollars as well as giving people a legitimate industry to work in.

The "I can get weed without it being legal so this has no impact on me" argument is fucking stupid. That's some pussy ass, I just smoked my first bowl hipster motherfucking bullshit.

Everyone can find weed. It's illegal, and people smoke it all the time. The shocking thing is, maybe some people don't want to risk going to jail, or seeing other people going to jail. Maybe some people are older than 12, and not looking for a hur hur he he let's be sneaky and smoke some droogz type of rush.

Unless you had some sort of large legitimate business through the medical industry and the new laws fuck with things there's no reason to be against legalization. Maybe you don't like this specific version passed in a state, but those things can change and you were talking about legal weed, not this specific law or that law.

This is because they're trying to compete with a legal market. If they sell it for the same price or more, people will just buy it from a shop where the quality is far more guaranteed.

If an 8th costs 50 at a shop, but your friend has ones for 35, then they're going to get business.

Anybody move to mass? Hows the housing market been? Is wachusett still doing $420 passes for this season? I'm not living in CO anymore but hopefully the housing situation has gotten better. Seemed like a lot of people were heading east.
