SofaKingSickclassy parting letter. i wonder what the cause was, and what he'll do now
auskiYeah I reckon it's the lack of content now. Can only post scenic photos from Indonesia for so long
BASEDJAHthere's no way this is true dude candide is still arguably the biggest name in the sport, they're not gonna end a 19 year partnership over a few months with no content. They stayed with him through multiple possibly career ending injuries

auskiI don't think it's as simple as them cutting him. He possibly wanted more than they were willing he to pay.
I don't think he has made a non GoPro edit, apart from a few shots for Faction and an Audi ad, since Few Words in 2012
freeballerI'm not trying to be a dick, but does anyone really care what outerwear a skier wears? I'm genuinely curious.
TheDoughAbidesYeah this definitely sucks for quicksilver way more than it does for Candide
S.J.WNot really, sure OOTD go viral every time he releases one. But from a marketing stand point, the people who buy quiksilver aren't the ones who follow candide religiously. The person who buys quiksilver goes to the snow once or twice a year and knows about quiksilver because of Kelly Slater or just seeing the brand around.
Plus, Quiksilver did go bankrupt, and they did cut a lot of surfers from their team. Most notably sealtooth. Who is like the Candide of surfing.

gapersarefriendsYeah you know a company is fucked when they drop someone as universally loved and recognized by dane
TheDoughAbidesI heard about the bankruptcy. You can't deny that Candides videos give quicksilver tons of exposure and to a market not commonly associated with quicksilver, no less. I wouldn't have known that quicksilver made outerwear if it wasn't for Candide.
But fair enough, if they're cutting down the surf team then they're definitely doing the same to the ski team.

StaticYes. There are probably over a hundred outerwear companies that show up to SIA, I bet you've never even considered wearing any of them (let alone heard their name) that don't sponsor well known skiers.
But, like the other guy said, this discussion is about more than what candide is wearing.

freeballerYou'd be surprised. Pro skiers have zero influence on my choice of outerwear. I much prefer independent reviews, fits, styles, warranty, reputation, and technology to what someone gets paid to ski in.
pajibberSponsor money is more about exposure than niche cred (although Candide is the rare athlete that checks both boxes.
Carved+DangerousMaybe he wants to do his own product line and stop relying on a brand to pay him. Alternative, maybe he think he won't be able to top OOTD and want to leave on a high note. Anyhow, I have no fn' idea, and I don't really care either. But I have never associated Quiksilver with anything skiing and if I saw anyone here wearing it, I'd immediately think they're either some kind of tryhard sellout, or a goofball freak.
saskskierMaybe Oakley will pick him up? Remember, he's been rocking Quiksilver goggles, so I'm sure he's looking (or being approached) by goggle/eyewear companies as well.
Also, Faction has pretty solid looking outerwear, so maybe he'll stay in house?

BrawnTrendsIf a jacket fits your needs and looks good, why does it matter which brand it is?
Carved+DangerousIt doesn't, and I was half-joking, but if someone forced me to react emotionally to all their mew QS gear on a chair, that's probably what I'd be thinking. I definitely wouldn't want to associate with them, let alone be their friend. However, if they and anyone else made a sincere effort to remove the labels and patches from their gear, then I could make an exception.
BrawnTrendsWell tbh, if anyone on a chair was forcing me to react emotionally to any gear they're wearing I'd want to punch them in the face regardless of the brand.
