Thoughts on skiing resorts, urban, backcountry near Colorado Springs

Possibly going to school next year at Colorado College, am looking for some thoughts/ feedback from people who live in the area/ have been there. I understand that the closest lift-access is around 2.5 hours away. Anyone skied backcountry on the mountains surrounding Colorado Springs?
Skiing is definitely a factor of deciding if I go to CC. Thanks!

get ready to be swarmed by a shitload of hicks. It is a very long way to any resort and there would virtually never be enough snow for backcountry skiing nearby. Would not recommend. If you want Colorado try CU Boulder or Colorado Mountain College

I'm in a similar situation as you, but on the other side of the state. I live in Fort collins, not really close to any resorts. I make the drive every weekend though because skiing is worth it lol. I imagine that monarch, copper, abay, and loveland would be the closest resorts to your location.

If you do go there and join fucc (I think that's the name of their ski club), on your spring trip throw down for an Airbnb party house. The hotels know about all your antics and shut that shit down, which would leave you as the gate keeper to the party.

Monarch and Breck are both 2 hours flat, urban is tough in the Springs because any snow that falls is usually gone within a few days, and there aren't really any backcountry zones immediately accessible from town that get enough snow on an average year to ski. That being said, 1.5 hours to some DOPE skiing with great access. Wind loading makes a lot of the alpine pretty dicey for a good portion of the winter but the spring skiing is top notch. You'll dig it.

Yo, I'm a freshman at CC right now. Like you said, skiing is kinda far away from here, but the hype seems real. Tons of people drive out all the time and there is also a bus every weekend. I also heard that there is some pretty close BC? Also block breaks.
CC is sick though. I'm really enjoying it so far. I know there are some upperclassmen and stuff on NS that also go to CC, but if you want to ask me any questions I'm happy to try to answer them with my limited knowledge.
