Best Skiing Near Innsbruck Or Austria in General?

Might be working at Kühtai this winter and was looking it up just now and it's in that region. Have another couple options but they're farther away.

Anyway I'll be working a bunch but with the close proximity what are the places to shred on my day off if I work there. What about at Kühtai itself?

Would be working in the parks but obviously looking to shred some proper shit inbounds or BC when I have the time.

Anybody live out that way or taking a trip this season?

Off the top of my head right now close to where you'll be you've got Alpbach and Salvenberg. you can also try going to axamer lizum, they have some FWT events there and there's a lot in terms of backcountry in all these places. If you end up getting that job hit me up i'll be around there all winter.

We can only shred if you strap a snowboard on. Idk if I can support your skiing. I don't judge but it still hurts to see. That said I'll be heading there the start of Dec so you probably won't be around still.

Cool, thanks for the tips. The job should be good I just need to hear back on my work visa. Hopefully that all works out. But def seems like a cool region.

Mayrhofen is 35 mins by car from Innsbruck and has the Vans Penken Park and some nice freeride. It's also a big ski area if you wanna cruise some piste. The green line bus to hintertux runs every 30 mins and is free in season. Well worth some time there if your gonna be local.

I may be back there in March and will happily show you round if your still about

but there is so much more skiing in that area, lots of smaller resorts which are really fun aswell

Cool, thanks for the info guys. Going to start looking through some of these places. The parks at Kühtai don't look as wild as some of the other places in europe but the location looks phenomenal and that's why I'm probably going to lock things in for there. Will only have 1 day off a week but with all that in close proximity I could probably get to 1 or 2 places a month.

There was a better looking park in Germany I was thinking of going to but it was small, not much for terrain and depending on the weather could have been a challenge for snow.

Idk, I just want to ride some cool shit for another season. Too many years I'm all park and barely get to ride anything. Would be sick to actually get to shred a bit and be less of a park rat even part time.

yo man let me know. im new to germany and nobody in the army shreds park, i can rent a car and go up to a ski hill if its not a fucked up distance away. gettin skis mounted next sat

Word will do. I don't throw down too hard but i passively shred still.

Where are you stationed in Germany? Also there's a possibility I might work in germany or other places if needed for short periods. Really depends on what's needed but I'll let you know if I head closer to you for work or to shred.

Are you there all winter?

im in bavaria, i dont throw down too hard either, just like hitting rails and doing 3's. im here until 2019 unfortunately

Kühtai is a really rad place, if they get snow... and that's the magic question at the moment. As a few people have already said, there are sooooo many rad places around you and if it is a good snow year, you will have a blast. Just one of these seemingly "normal" valleys has more terrain than all of Jackson Hole.

The big places will for sure be on the crowded/busy side, yet with lots of amenities in the valley. But if you can look into the smaller ski areas off the beaten path will have just as rowdy terrain, just lacking the marketing, the crowds, or fancy hotels.

I skied in Lech for 4 days, which isn't a far train ride. The whole Alrburg area has something like 94 lifts.

Can't speak to the park though, didn't even check it out.

Company needs good people + I need a good job = good match

Then the Austrian government was like "lolnope" and that was the end of that.

I didn't actually get denied the visa either. And I probably would get it. They just dragged on the process insanely long and are about as close to impossible to reach as can be.(I don't even think I could have made up a story about people being more difficult to get a hold of)

So I'm sure I'll find something solid in the states, but it still hurts a bit. Also it's last minute as fuck right now so I'm trying to find a job when everyone is already hired.

At least I have a few good options and the weekend to think them over.


If anyone goes to austria send me a snowball or something.
