Detuning for rails vs. All-mountain performance

SconnieI've been riding some Kartel 98's as my everyday ski for a year now. I was skiing everything except for rails for the last few seasons, and I would like to mess around in the park more with this being my last year in the Midwest.

I know it's a good idea to de-tune a little bit underfoot for rails, but I don't want to lose that carving performance.

Swandog7Didnt you buy Kartel 108s? No point of leaving them completely sharpened. Also, detune the more you hit rails. You can always resharpen if you need to. If you don't detune for rails, you will get edge cracks a lot more just so you could ski the midwest bullshit. Detune them depending on how much you hit rails. You're not benefiting if you don't detune the appropriate amount you hit rails

East_the_Skiis there any specific way to detune your skis for rails, i wanna do it but i afraid of messing it up

Swandog7Metal file, diamond stone, gummy stone in that order.

Shops also do it, but usually don't give that great of a detune. I prefer doing it myself, and detuned for about half an 20-30 minutes a ski while watching tv. I hit a lot of rails so you might need to do less. A diamond stone isn't required, you can just use a metal file and soft gummy stone.
