unsteezedmachineI just moved to Denver / Deep Aurora for school and have a few questions? What time does I-70 turn into a parking lot? Do I absolutely need snow tires on my fwd sedan. I plan to go skiing 2-14 times. How does winter park, loveland and A basin compare? I'm accustomed to shitty Midwest hills so I'm not picky. What are the most crowded times and hills? Everyone I talk to here has different opinions.

IMHO, if you wanna do the whole bullshit I-70 commute, it is best to go early as FUCK and Tupperware some brekky/lunch. I'd rather leave Denver at 5:45 AM and eat my cold ass pasta then sit behind brake lights.

A Basin and Loveland are fairly similar, Loveland may be slightly better as far as freeride terrain goes. Winter Park is awesome too, and you can get off of I-70 earlier. Personally I have had less experience at Loveland, but between A-Basin and WP I'd choose A-Bay. If you like riding park more WP might be a bit to a lot better.

I-70 on the weekend is a parking lot by earlier than 7. Definitely get some chains for your car. Out of those three mountains, Loveland's my favorite. It's the least touristy and least crowded, and the terrain's real fun. WP if you're lookin for park.
