Replying to SLVSH GNAR/King of the Road/Mountain Idea
Hey NS, I had an idea that I thought would be worth some consideration. Everyone can agree that King of the Road is one of the greatest things in skating and helps create a sense of community and history, and there's always been talk of how to create something like KOTR in skiing. I had this idea about a slightly different format that I think could be put on very realistically by an outlet like SLVSH.
Basically, instead of traveling all over the country, it would be a team-based GNAR-style game that would take place at one or a few geographically close mountains. Say this game of "King of the Hill" is held at Park City Mountain involving three teams of four local guys who commit three Saturdays in a row or maybe a consecutive Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to the game. Points can only be scored on these days. To make things much easier, challenges would be on-hill or directly around the hill, but a day dedicated to urban could be added. Each team would have a filmer to follow them around and record the completion of challenges. There would be rail tricks (ex. 4 pretz 2 any rail), jump tricks (ex. rodeo 1 any jump), sidecountry tricks (ex set up and slide a tree/whole team 720 train a natural feature ), feature-specific tricks (ex. backflip into Jupiter Bowl, front 6 out of the GoPro wallride), misc challenges (ex. haircut on the lift, race a racer down a slalom course), and highest/longest most (ex. furthest straight air). The SLVSH guys could compile these challenges into a book and just let it rip. The end of the last day could involve some sort of direct showdown competition, really, anything could be done with this.
Having guys play this game where they would already be skiing would make it far more plausible, and exhibiting each skiier's personality in combination with great tricks and general insanity would make for a great watch. SLVSH has already held cups with sizable cash purses and good organization, and this could be a huge step in solidifying SLVSH as a skier-favorite media powerhouse. I just really wanna see these guys get on skis, do stuff they normally wouldn't, and get crazy.
