I am 6' 1-2" male that weighs around 200 lbs and I am looking for new skis. I am currently riding 191 cm skis and am looking to find a new pair. I am wondering if I drop to around 170 cm, if that will be proper to ski park and all mountain on twin tips?
why do you want to drop so much length? what's motivating that. normally people get bigger skis, are worried about it, then realize how much better they are. ive never heard of anyone except beginners wanting to drop 20cm off their skis haha
I'm the same height as you but I'm around 150 lbs.
Personally the shortest ski I seriously ride is 176... and it feels fine outside of charging big gnarly shit, or trying to go through bumps Candide style. I don't think I would ride anything shorter daily.
Just remember with park shorter length = less weight but also less stability. So by going for a slightly longer ski you are gaining that stability and forgiveness in your landings etc.
TL;DR go with something in the low 180's for park IMO.
I am the same size as you, all my park skis have been 180 at least. I bumped up to 189 for my pow skis and my new all mountain set-up is 185, and I even had to talk myself I to going that short. Unless you are skiing indoors a 170 is going to be so annoying for you.
Thanks for all the advice, I am looking at a good deal for a smaller set of skis but like everyone said, I like the bigger skis. I'm just going to have to keep looking for bigger skis.
I'm 6'3 185pounds and rude the 186cm kartel 98s and I think if they are are perfect although if they were like 188-190cm they'd give me that longer feel that the shorter guys get when they ride a little bit higher then they should
