pawoooljust curious, do new ski companys buy a bunch of molds first? do they use someone else's?what kind of presses do companys like Faction use? just curious...
Thanks!!
Depends most skis are built in a couple of factories. Faction are built by Nobile in Poland, they don't have their own presses. A lot of stuff is made in the Elan factory (4frnt being one).
A lot of the bigger European brands have their own factories, Head, Salomon, Rossignol, Dynastar, Atomic, Nordica, Elan, Volkl etc etc all have fairly large factories in their respective countries in the EU.
As a result of this they subcontract out their factories and expertise to other brands. For example, Armada do not make a single ski of their own, most of their stock are built by Atomic in Austria while their metal laminate skis are made in the Blizzard Factory and their cap skis in the Head factory.
A lot of the smaller brands like Faction use plants like Nobile Sport who do not have a ski brand of their own but have big brand level manufacture capability.
There's also a lot of smaller boutique factories across the world who have built their own facilities, DPS, ON3P and Praxis being the main ones in the USA and places like Suprat and Alpina in Europe.
