Best place to be a ski bum

I've always dreamed of skiing almost everyday at some amazing resort for a couple years in my life. if the opportunity arises where would be the best place. Whistler seems sick but to expensive. maybe alta or the cottonwood canyon area.

I'm in Tahoe now, but was in Jackson for a few years before this, and in Colorado for a bit before that..

I miss Jackson, it's the best place I've ever lived hands down. But if I had the money to go anywhere for 4 months just to ski, I'd go to Whistler.

honestly best of picking some random smaller ski resort like grand targee. or taos new mexico....go somewhere where people aren't... i live in summit and so many transient 18-22 ish people who come out here and think they can make it off a 10 dollar an hour job. It works for a little bit, but eventually the need for a new vehicle, or continued education seem to keep people moving right along the way....

It's the mountains that are the problem in the east, not the cold. I grew up back east and I don't miss those little hills.

Tahoe or Mammoth. Tons of jobs, skiing 5 minutes away. Housing is the issue.

thats why you go to colorado mountain college. on a side note, I'd definitely choose whistler. the town and mountain are amazing.

tons of shitty paying jobs and a 45 minute commute everyday for semi-reasonable housing. Even Reno rent is skyrocketing because of the massive Tesla factory coming in.

if you're in anything other than ski area ops, yeah. but ski area ops is a good degree. besides, I'm transferring to a 4 year college to get my bachelors in sustainability or applied science.

Steamboat Colorado, Jackson Hole Wyoming, Park City Utah, Whistler BC Canada, Aleyeska Alaska, Squaw Valley California, Etc. There are so many great places, just get a van and find a lot that will let you set up shop, but don't be an ass/party fucker cause you will get kicked out.

Mt Hutt , Methven , New Zealand

Yeah everyone's heard of Queenstown and wanaka but has anyone in here heard of a little town called methven?? By far a way better place to ski bum in NZ than anywhere else the rent is half of what you pay down south. The vibe is all time with a strong sense of community within the young population. Mt Hutt season pass is only $299 kiwi so that's like just over $200 usd. The mountain itself has a world class park now that's getting better and better every year. The park won NZsnowborder battle for best park in 2016. Not only that it gets one of the highest annual snowfalls in NZ and is over 30% black runs!!!
