"Authorities in Chaffee County say they are searching for a teen suspect linked to two attempted sexual assaults at the Monarch Mountain ski area over the past two weeks.
In both cases, the suspect rode the lift with the victims then followed them down the ski run to a point where he then forced them into the trees and tried to sexually assault them, according to a news release by the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said in the second incident, the suspect pulled a handgun and fired the weapon in an attempt to coerce the victim to cooperate.

This is a stupid sexist urban myth that its 5 dudes for every 1 girl in ski towns. If you are talking about resort employees (so someone 19 y/o who shares a bedroom with 4 bunk beds in it in employee housing) they likely have their own personal/romantic life set up with other people who work for the resort and are there all winter. And you will see couples together.
But all other ladies who don't have a guy standing next to them are usually at the mountain hoping a guy strikes up a convo with them or buys them a drink at the bar. Skiing is probably the best way to meet people.
If you want to talk to a girl on the lift you will be able to tell right away if she is interested by whether she stops her music/takes off her headphones to pay attention to you and talk to you or if she keeps her music on and wants to be left alone.

Okay fair enough, however that isn't what I said. What I did imply was the fact that getting a fair chance at ski/snowboard girls may possibly be lower than in other circumstances when considering the various factors

I find this completely inaccurate. I thinks its flattering to get hit on on the hill, as long as you're not creepy. But also you can have a conversation with out hitting on her right out of the gate.
Honestly, just start a conversation, we aren't these fragile magical unicorns that'll get scared off if you talk to us!
