as a kid from preschool all the way to 6th grade i lived in france for about 4 months a year for my dads job- i learned french and was fluent it was all great and dandy-
my dad decides to take a break from his job- so no more france for 4 years
during this time- i lost alot of my french but definatly could relearn it easy
after the four years are over we go back- but this time instead of going to a french school like my sisters- i was too nervous i went to an english school.
next thing you know- i can barely speak french anymore and im pissed
my sisters who went to the international school- the are fluent :(
biggest mistake ive made- i could relearn it- but it wouldnt be even close to half as natural and very difficult
i was 12 and i impregnated my side ho. Main chick left me, and now i gotta work down at the docks to support my family. But there is this chance at a boxing fight to make some cash. I take it and i break my hand. Shit, son, im done. baby momma leaves me cuz i cant make any money. I start hangin out around this old abandoned house but the first rule of the place is you cant talk about it. so i wont.
I was getting some absolutely AWFUL head from my girlfriend and i knew her mom would be awake to go to work in 45 minutes.
So a basic rule is if the door is open, you are welcome to come in and if its closed it stays closed.
Anyway, 40ish mins. Go by and i hear some noises and think its the dogs or some shit and as soon as im about to blow her mom walks in. My girlfriend got one extra stroke in and i let loose all over my girlfriends face right in front of her mom.
Now, im not saying i lasted 40 minutes because that typically doesnt happen. It was just so bad and got more teeth than tongue.
I was just a kid- nothin but a bright-eyed, innocent 18-year-old, fresh outta high school. I was the perfect model an all-american teenager. I played football, went to parties now and again, might've had a little bit too much fun now and again- the usual stuff. I'd be damned if I knew how quickly all of that would change.
We were three days outta Saigon, in a old shelled-out village by some swamps. My platoon was stranded, no backup for miles around. Johnson was fiddling with the radio, trying to get in touch with command. O'Hanley, bless his stupid Irish heart, had had a little bit to drink and was wandering off into the brush to relieve himself. God knows I wished I had stopped him.
The first shot hit him right in the head. I heard it ring through the night and grabbed my rifle immediately, but by then Johnson, illuminated and vulnerable outside our makeshift shelter, was down too. We began firing blindly towards the jungle, mowing down the charlie best we could. By my count, there were four, but more could've been flanking us, hard to say.
Smith, to my right, was down in seconds. Sullivan took a bullet to the face about a minute in. That's when ol' Chuck "Barbarian" Leery charged them, bless his soul. Got about four feet before he was riddled with bullets too, but not before chucking a grenade.
The frag shook the earth with its explosion. My ears ringing, I wiped the dirt off my brow and looked around. The gunfire had stopped, but a man was still screaming. My vision gradually focused on the howling form of Chuck, face contorted in pain, bleeding from everywhere.
And then I froze. I watched Chuck scream out to me, call for help, beg me to patch him up, but I just couldn't. I was afraid I guess- afraid of the uncertainty of the jungle, of the gunfire and the bleeding and the whole goddamn mess that was Vietnam. And so I watched, painfully conscious, as the last surviving member of my platoon bled out in front of me. I shut my eyes tight but I couldn't drown out his final cries. I can still here them today.

Helen Keller could have called balls and strikes better than me. Every call I made, these kids' parents would boo the shit out of me. Adults in Wisconsin take 16 and under sports like Baseball, softball, and basketball VERY seriously. And there I was, hyperventilating under that goddamn mask in 90 degree heat, shitting my pants because I had no clue what was going on, kept forgetting how many ball and strikes there were, and just had a total meltdown. Never again. But I still got paid $20 so that cheered me up temporarily. One of those memories that gives me anxiety whenever I think about it.

Was reffing a basketball game for a tournament at my highschool in central Wisconsin. This lady would not stop badgering me and she was freaking out about every call I made. At halftime she called me over and she started to berate me in front of everyone. I kept my cool but during the second half she didn't stop so I paused the game, went up to her in the stands and told her if she wants to ref she can and I took off my whistle and placed it around her neck.

hey at least when you go back to france next you can start to learn arabic
Not committing to losing weight earlier in life. I bet I easily could have at the beginning of highschool but I was weak as fuck and ended up caving every time. Also I wish I would have taken a gap year but at the same time I'm glad I didn't because I met some of my best friends last year and I wouldn't have met them if I had taken a gap year.

Same thing has happened to me reffing soccer and hockey games, Id say i've probably booted 10 parents and a few coaches over the years. Kicking the first parent out was difficult and I took a lot of shit and abuse before I pulled the trigger, but once my cherry was popped I wouldn't even think twice. Easiest way to do it I found was just go up to the coach of the irate parents team and tell them the game is not continuing until that parent leaves.
