Replying to Reliable dog booties for touring
I know a few of you guys take your four-legged buddies touring. I'm on the hunt for a pair of dog booties. Requirements are:
1) Actually stay on the dog's paws. Every set I've used in the past tend to fall off his back paws almost immediately, no matter how I set the straps
2) Fairly grippy. He's good about following behind me on the skin track, but certain steep or icy sections can get a little tricky and I've found that a standard pair of running booties usually uses a hard rubber that doesn't grip well on snow
Obviously the number one priority is finding one that fits well. He is a husky-german shepard mix, so fairly large paws but not exceptionally huge. Shorter tours haven't given him issues going without booties, but on some of my longer outings I've noticed he'll seek refuge on a rock or downed tree to give his paws a break from the cold.
Not that I expect it here, but please don't give me the "don't take your dog touring" spiel. I only take him out when I'm solo or with friends who are ok with it, and only on very low-danger days
