According to Saga Outerwear's snapchat (3 minutes ago), Keegan Kilbride is "officially" on Saga. They posted a photo of Keegan's contract with them.
Thoughts?

shoon_Seems kinda weird, keegan doesnt seem like someone that would be on the saga team
eheathWhat does that even mean?
shoon_I just cant picture keegan on saga, I would see him on like tomahawk or something. But still that gives saga a crazy line up
Swandog7HA when Saga talked about adding Will Wesson, they said the team was "stacked enough" and they didnt have payroll for him. Interesting what they are doing, especially since I cant see Keegan on Saga. Saga is full of hoes and it seems like they are trying to sponsor every athlete that is part of Level 1 very slowly... now you can tear me apart.

eheathBut why?
We're talking about a skier wearing a certain brand of clothing. How are black saga pants different from black tomahawk pants?

L0gicHe's not talking about their actual products, Saga and Tomahawk just give off different vibes. Saga is more mainstream, picking up athletes who are very well known, while Tomahawk is slightly more underground, and "core". He's saying that Keegan fits more with the Tomahawk vibe than the Saga one.

eheathThis still makes absolutely zero sense. Saga is "core", oakley and tnf would be examples of mainstream... seriously? You guys think saga is mainstream?
This whole 'i cant picture this athlete on this brand' shit is ludicrous, you guys keep doing you, i'll just leave it be.

.lenconI mean they've picked up the past 3 including Keegan. But who cares
ski.the.eastI never said all of them but lately it's been the trend, so I'm not really surprised they grabbed Keegan
danbrownjonah and mitchell both rode for saga before they won superunknown

solid.seveni feel dumber after reading this thread
JibbaTheHuttthis thread is dumb as fuck.
GeorgeWBushHere's the thing: it all comes down to money.
I'm just speculating, but I would say it's reasonable to infer that Saga probably gave him the most money.
If it came down to it for you, would you rather ski for brands that pay you less and not be able to ski full time/professionally? or would you rather be able to ski full time and not have to worry about money because the brand you're skiing for pays you more than the other brands.
It's like Ahmet Dadali used to be sponsored by Under Armour, not exactly the "core" brand you'd think he'd be reppin'. Why was he with them then? Probably because they offered him the most money.
However, I think most of the time that you see guys really choosing which brand they want to sign with based on how well they think they would fit with the goals ("vibe") or the brand, is when both the brands in question ("core" and "mainstream") offer them the same amount of money or a similar amount. Granted there is always exceptions to this and some guys really would just rather sign with a brand that they feel they fit in with and they're willing to take the pay cut for it, if indeed there is a pay cut.
S.J.W. Keegan isn't even a big name, he just won super unknown.
ski.the.east...ok? And next year the winner will probably be on saga too, before or after they win, doesn't matter
Saga. There is so much misinformation and speculation in this thread I don't even know where to start.
Swandog7On a completely unrelated note a out your rider spectrum, is Frej still on the team, he disappeared after preseason

But I'll try,
Every super unknown winner or finalist (with the exception of Keegan) we were either already in talks with or sponsoring prior to the event and were approached by them first. Additionally we had been watching them for a few years waiting to see if they were going to take their skills to the next level. The same can be said for Keegan. Who, through a mutual friend, had asked for some pants last winter to which we happily obliged.
With other athletes and contracts referenced, will and Jonah, you have to look at them in a case by case scenario. Will is a good friend and we didn't feel we could adequately support his career to the level we would like to at this time. Jonah was offered a contract but it was not what he was looking for/not as much as another brand.
I can't really say much to the "Keegan doesn't fit with Saga's style". That is complete opinion. We feel we have people on our team from just about every genre of freestyle skiing. All the way from Durtschi/Wiley to Steve to Franchino/Gaeta(who both also ski for HG). We approach people to sponsor because of their personalities and because we like to support those people who want to push and grow skiing.
Like I said, there is a lot of speculation in this thread. All that is fine. But maybe don't make up your mind completely about a brands image with a certain skier before the season even starts. We're beyond hyped that Keegan wanted to join our team and are really looking forward to what he brings to skiing and the future of Saga.
