RousedWitsDefinitely give her a try!
The worst that will happen is a few people will say "you've gone to the dark side" just don't be an ass.
As for the "expensive" part.. I mean lift tickets still cost A LOT. And if you've already got the ski gear, you'll save money by not switching. (not trying to discourage you)
If you want to improve at skiing and get out of "the rut" it might be helpful for you to ski with other (more experienced) skiers rather than snowboarders. but on the other hand, picking up snowboarding might be sweet if you are riding with other snowboarders. One thing I have heard from a lot from snowboard instructors is that snowboarding is quick to learn, but you hit plateaus. so you've got to keep pushing yourself to get better. if you ride with snowboarders it will force you to get out of the comfort zone and get real sendy, which makes you better.
whatever you decide,
Hang Loose
and Send it HARD!
SconnieNot for skiers who are dedicated and have a true passion for the sport.
I'm not one to tell you what to do, but I think it's pretty important for us skiers to stick with it and proove that our sport is just as badass as snowboarding. Many people still view skiing as the old-school straight skis days. I think it's fun to be a newschool-type skier while the sport is getting more popular.
To respond to both, I feel like part of the reason why I'm reaching this point is the community. I would love to ski with other skiers, the issues is they're few and far between and I've noticed this trend of animosity between skiers, at least where I'm at. Shit becomes a contest of whether or not you can k-fed and what style is and isn't. But among snowboarders there's a lot more of mutual respect, and I feel that it's just more welcoming. Time is limited and going down hills fast is something I love and want to get the most out of.
I definetly feel a commitment to skiing. There's always been talk cycling through about the sport being on its way or out, or gaining popularity. It's something you gotta stand up for and believe in. I worked my butt of for the sport, and I wonder if that's passion or something else.
