Women's Ski and Snowboard Big Air in X Games

Just read on Unofficial that these two events are in

Thoughts? Which one will be better, do you think? What tricks will win?

Chances are she won't do it in competition though and sadly in three years no one has really followed her example. My guess is that Kelly will win it with a switch 10 - then next year she starts doing dubs, then starts doing them in comps the year after that. There's no reason for girls to dub in comps until the level gets high enough that they need to. I hope I'm wrong and girls step it up sooner though.

There was a girl snowboarder who tried dubs at one (or maybe both) of the stadium big airs last year...can't remember her name.

I watch big air to see the best comp skiers pushing the sport. I don't care for women's skiing in that regard since they'll always be trailing. If I do watch it, it will be so I can watch Kelly land a 1080.

On my phone so I don't feel like checking but I think you're thinking of Olympics, that they're only adding snowboard big air. I think x games is adding both ski and snowboard big air. But I could def be wrong

I don't know. It might be cool. Here's my theory which is probably 0% accurate but fuck it.

So in a slope run everything you do has to be consistent to get a good run. Which means you're probably not throwing the hardest thing you can physically do? I could be wrong about that but oh well. Anyways, for big air each hit is independent of another and if you fall it's not gonna mess up your score. You have multiple tries so even if you fuck up once or twice you can still have the chance to bring it to your feet. Because of this I think we might see some relatively new stuff from the ladies. I don't know a whole lot about the comp scene but I'd like to think this is a positive step in a good direction.

Idk even if it "sucks" compared to the men's comp I'll probably still be stoked on it. Just cause it's cool to see other chicks throw down.

I want to see big things from women if they decide to do it. Im getting sick of hearing women on the slopes complain that men are sexist for talking about how womens tricks have only made it to the halfway point of men.

Last year i heard a girl bitching about amd when i told her to make a difference and womens skiing she seriously told me she cant do it because shes a girl.

Regardless of what it'll be, involvement is progression to a degree and that's pretty rad. I'm way more stoked to support an event like this than the broadcasting of a bunch of people playing video games.

Stoked that women will push their side of the sport, but I think women should look up to skiers like Maude and Katrina. Women should get out into urban more too imo.

Yeah I know. I was just responding people that say it'll only be this trick or that trick. But I think we'll see more than that.

yeah agreed. big air can make people do some crazy things. some of the most iconic "first" tricks we saw for a while were at big airs like the US open, like CR's bio 12, schiiler's switch 12s and 14s...

more recently examples that come to mind are ...somebody's dub 16 (kenworthy?), henrik's nose bud dub 12....

Kaya and Lisa both did switch dub 10's, Kaya's was cleaner and she held her grab much longer.

Bottom line is this event moved the line in a way Fenway definitely did not. Although watch Kaya's crash from year's ago on one of those metal monsters and that might cause some hesitation.

In any regard, I think the dubs and the sw 12 were pretty solid.
