New Skis

how hard do u charge? do you hit big rails and do gnarly shit?
cos if u do, do not buy line skis.

dont get me wrong i have had 2 pairs of line skis and they were easily the funnest skis ive ever ridden but they both started falling apart within like 10 days.

but i know a few people who are a bit more chill with thier skiing and their lines are still fine. so its up to you. if you do big shit in the park then i would definitely recommend looking somewhere else, otherwise, get the chronics cos theyre sick

Yeah get the chronics, you might have a few durability issues but that's the price you gotta pay for a sick ski that's dirt cheap.

bump. anyone else recommend anything else? Also, Im not throwing big airs or anything really. Mostly just rails and small/medium jumps. If that has anything to do with the "durability" ratings.

just giving this a bump. was also looking at the Future spins as well because they come in a 181 instead of a 185.

Chronic are good. You could also watch the sell/trade forum for some good deals on skis there. Maybe Craigslist and ebay.

Ive read that they measure shorter than what is "listed" as their length, plus with the rocker, thatll be even shorter, would the 181 Future Spins be a better option? Probably going to mount FKS/Pivots on whichever ski i get. Im just torn because Ive been used to skiing camber for so long, I dont want to hate whatever ski I get for it being too long/short. Pittsburgh isnt a huge ski town so not really much to demo. Anyone have exp with the 16 Volkl Steps? Also Im a decent amount bigger (weightwise) than most of the people on here, from what ive read. Stiffness would also have to be decently comparable to the S4s.

What is your height and weight, I can give you more information on your options if you provide me with those two things. The future spins are not much of an all mountain ski, they're more of a park discipline. I had a buddy with a set and he skied about 50/50 park to all mountain and he wasn't much of a fan. As far as the volkl wall goes, it is a straight up competition ski, you wouldn't have much fun on it. Very stiff, narrow, and expensive! definitely not the ski for you. I still think the chronics are your best choice. You are right by saying they ski shorter than theyre listed length and if you're as tall as it sounds the 185 length would suit you fine. Don't be scared of the "early rise" technology this is a very minor change from a traditional build, not like the rocker profile of an ON3P or similar skis. Just a bit of rise in the tip and tail to make it more all-mountain friendly.
