Ruin an Rose

Went to the Denver Matchsticks Ruin an Rose Premier last night....

Before they showed the movie they talked a little bit about it luckily it was a fore warning a guy said i got to take the rains this year an i wanted to try something different. Boy was he right he then said its a little weird again this dude hit the the nail on the head.


The skiing was decent in the film... when there was skiing movie ran around 50 min with maybe 20 of the 50 being skiing.

IMO i thought that it was the worst MSP movie ive ever seen

Not dogging just wasn't expecting to be watching a movie of this nature. I understood the message that was being perceived throughout the non skiing scenes just a little bummed about the route they took this year. Ive grown up watching MSP films an have always loved them.. Best part of my spring was hiking up Alyeska to watch them hit the massive kicker over the Giant Matchstick.

I went too and it was fucking terrible. Remember when the "story line" in ski movies was just the athletes getting drunk and filming dumb skits instead of some climate refugees walking around dehydrated as fuck in the desert on Dynafits for 75% of the movie.


Fuck you MSP. I want both my money back and a full T-Rains segment.

damn yo thats a bummer. I haven't seen it but I usually like the MSP movies. the trailer did give off that exact vibe though. it seemed pretty whack but the shots of skiing still seemed sick. were the ski segs dope?

I haven't seen it, actually haven't seen the trailer either. But maybe you'll still take me seriously. I'm kind of into ski movies with a plot.

Nowadays there are is so much content coming out. What do you think these film companies can do to stand out? Sure, you can hit gnarlier and gnarlier spots, ski bigger lines, do different tricks and all of that. But you also can go this route and incorporate a new element into your film. However, I don't think every company can do this. In fact, I really enjoy the movies that are like 98% skiing, 2% more skiing. I think both styles can have their place. Too much of either would just be meh.

As stated before, I haven't seen it yet so maybe it actually did suck but I'd hate to write off movies of this style because I think, if done right, they have the potential to be really sick.

I agree with getting creative but like you said not to much of the plot stuff. Also i know that its getting to the point where you cant get much gnarlier but id like to see some creativity in different filming techniques an maybe locations idk at the end of the day its a SKI MOVIE an thats what we want haha as for this years MSP film id wait till a homie buys or rents it dont waste your money

Yeah that's fair. I just love movies that have dope soundtracks and good vibes and get me stoked for the season. So if it's excessively focused on cinematography or some weird plot it kinda ruins it for me

This movie is really terrible. the skiing is frankly meh, and the Book of Eli type metaphorical interludes which take up over half the movie (not an exageration) are really, really boring.

I wish i wouldnt have wasted 2 hours of my life going there, sitting there in a hot theater with people booing and then just not paying attention and talking, and then driving back.

Never saw a WM film until last year when I went to get the free lift tickets, but I couldn't believe how awful it was. Not much actual skiing and the editing was unbearable.

I'm sure the films when Miller was actually making them were much better though.

He's made some banger films just focused more on the old style filming not so much new school skiing
