PowellMovementI'm interviewing Mahre tomorrow morning to get the 411 on what happened. Seth declined (as expected) but Andy is game. I'll have this up on Powder Radio on Monday morning. It will be interesting to see how much he shares. Being that I worked there for 16 years (I left a year ago in August) some of my thoughts and opinions will be shared as well.

Pretty much all the long term employees are gone. Boots were a disaster. Their new skis flopped. Retailers got pissed when they went direct sales and I bet they had to sell cheap this year.


wait. k2 sells direct from their factory to the public now? no more stores?

last year you could buy K2 skis on their website. they still had local dealers, many of whom were pissed.

its really a fine line to walk when you have an army of sales reps and retailers that you have dealt with for years. going direct circumvents a huge infrastructure that has been there for a grip and they get really, really pissed off. Armada is just going direct for the first time this year and it was hectic getting everything in place.

i don't think so in the world of skis. in 2015 only like 20% of alpine flat skis were sold online in the US, i'd venture that number even smaller in Europe.

Bullshit she wrote that. I wonder how much time her daddy spent constructing such a vomit-inducing PR response. I bet Kelly ripped the head off her favorite stuffed toy when she found out K2 dropped her.
