Do pro's go back up and get their ski when they fall on a big mountain line? Cause I'm sure they don't bring like twenty pairs of skis with them on trips. Unless they got top secret ski magnets that suck them out of the mountain when the fall.

i would guess a snowmobile could be of assistance in situations like that. and im sure they have backup skis. this is all hypothetical of course, because, like aclsarescary said, pros dont fall.

yea if its just up the hill then somebodoy will go back up or come down and get them on skis or a snowmobile. however if it is on the middle of a double stager or someplace knar then it is probably left...

pros stick gum on the bottom of their boots so when they fall (rarely) the ski doesnt fall of if rebounds back and they pop in, with steeze to boot

Skis stay on. Theyre probably riding bindings with a din of 25 ( and yes they make one - youd be surprised how much torque is on a ski when youre going 75 mph carving really tight turns downa race course) so the bindings would probably rip out of the ski before theyd release.

All pros fall except Huge-O-Harrison, who even fell last year, but they always show footage of crashes in movies, and i guess pros usually lose their skis on harsh crashes and they probably walk like any other person if its doable to pick them up.

^^Yeah Hugo had a couple of massive stacks in Happy Happy, goggles, skis went flying, looked awesome, lots of cartwheels down the side of a mountain.

Wow, Twintipwonder must know some really good skiers. Even Seth Morrison has stated on more than one occasion, that his din is only between 9 and 13 depending on how far into the season he is.

they leave them...nuff said. You don't just walk up a fifty degree funnel chute with fatal exposure to get your a-frames back. You get the second or third pair that you pack for the trip and wear those. I don't know if you guys have ever paid attention during a big mountain crash scene, but guys seriously tumble for more vertical than most east coast ski resorts have. Think about it.

when you ski deep pow you can attach these fluro ribbons/bands that to your brake and stuff the rest down your boot so when you fall the ribbons/bands trail out from the skis so you can track them down. That prob doesnt help the pros when they got to hike up some steep chute though.

i hiked about 30 yds up a steep chute and it took me about 40 minutes, plus it was scary as hell and im surprised i didn't fall again

you never realize how steep the mountain is until you dont have your skis on

Skimac has it correct. There's no way they're going to hike back up, it's most likely impossible in all that snow and on those pitches.

The thing I wonder...how to they get down? They can't ski those lines on one ski. Does the heli have to pick them up mid mountain?

yeah they don't have a din of 25 that would be gay, and yeah they usually hike back up and gt them they are pretty much just like another skiier when shit happens, pros fall all the time if they are pushing the limit, and I've climbed up steeper then 50 degreee couloirs to get a ski i mean it kinda depends on stability conditions but yeah they don't just leave them, and Dude have you ever taken a tumble with leashes? your mom wouldn't even recognize you when you get through a solid tomahawk over 50 yards. You'd be confetti.
