Big Sky Montana College Trip

Whats up NS!

My college (Illinois State University) has a pretty dope ski club that is offering a group trip out to Big Sky Montana this winter break Jan 8-13 2017. I was just wondering if anyone has ever gone on one of these "group discounted trips" Here is the link to the info page they have https://gw.echotours.com/Register/543-SocialTrip/SnowCrew . If anyone else is going from a different school or wherever drop a post! It would be sick to meet up on the slope and in the bars!

Yeah man, I'm in Purdue's ski club and I went on the trip last year to Keystone and I hit Breck and Vail too. You won't find a better price to head out west. I'm going on this year's trip too, but we're going to Crested Butte. It's pretty great there's always other colleges there and I think one night they have a concert and a bar where everyone can just mingle around, great stuff.

But I'm telling you right now Purdue's ski club is better simply because our club name is PUSSC

thats really early to go to big sky. With the super dry continental snowpack, theres a huge chance that it might not snow enough in the short amount of winter before your trip to have the whole mountain open. Hopefully whatever you do is fun. Don't bank on the park being good either. Theres no snowmaking so the park is a slow progression to "decent" starting about march. That being said, Big sky is a shitty place to ski park because there is so much killer big mountain stuff to shred. Hopefully it snows when you are out here for that time period

Thanks for the heads up bibs_skibum! I appreciate it man, I'm just looking forward to ditching the Midwest ski "hills" for the first time! It appears to be a decent price for the trip as well, I'm sure all group rate packages like this are similar but I'm still pumped!

Yeah january isnt the best time for Big Sky...but its not like you have a choice in that haha.

It will be super sick. Just be careful and look out for shallow rocks. They will have a fuckload of those at that time.

All of the University of California schools have ski clubs and we always had a trip right after finals the first week of winter break. I always went and it was a blast.

^ Sweet I just found out that were staying at the Big Horn Condos which are supposed to be really nice. The three colleges going at the same time are Illinois State University, University of Illinois & University of Minnesota.

Bibs isn't wrong--early season can be hit or miss in Montana.

That said, you probably won't find better pricing than the group rates that they get from bringing the whole ski club at the same time. You won't have to drive yourself. There will be tons of people to hang and ski and hot tub with, whether the snow is epic or scarce. Seems like a pretty simple decision to me.

I went on a couple "Big Trips" with Echo Tours while in college. Are you taking a bus to the destination? One year we rented vans and it was nearly as fun as taking the bus.

I ski big sky every Weekend! Super dope mountain and it will take you over a day to explore the whole thing. Maybe we can take a few park laps together.

I went on this trip last year, It's such a good time and the price is real good. As said tons of rocks that time of the year but its still pretty rad.

they're literally right there, you can walk across the parking lot to the base area or take the janky little poma up and ski down. stumbling distance to scissorbills which is the best bar up top as well.

Two more days! Cant wait to spend 24~25 hours on a bus full of drunk college kids... Weather report shows that its supposed to snow almost every day I'm out there too! If anyones out there from the 7th to the 14th hit me up.

I was at Big Sky on Thanksgiving weekend, and it was still dope as hell! So I wouldn't worry about the conditions too much!
