TheDoughAbidesTahoe. Also, CMC is close to silverthorne, not silverton. Very different towns.
j.varCant say much about SNC (never went there) but on the other hand CMC is an awesome school. There is a couple different campuses you can choose from but if your looking for the best park riding, breck/dillon is your best choice. I went there for two years (last year and the year before) and have nothing but great things to say. Classes are mostly once or twice a week and a lot are offered at night. in other words if you get your schedule dialed you can ski, anywhere between 4 and 7 days a week (i usually would work sat/sun to avoid i-70 crowd). classes are relatively easy and the professors are awesome. would definitely recommend cmc, only downside is the housing issue in summit county. cmc does not have dorms at the breck/dillon campus, but steamboat campus does.. hope this helps!
TSBCheck out CMC in Steamboat, you won't need a car and you will get in a tons of days. And there is a small hill that you can walk to from the campus for night park skiing. There is a water ramp for the summer. Its only a two year program but I believe most of the AA's transfer all credits to Sierra Nevada, if your looking at the resort or ski business programs. Small campus super chill environment.
californiagrownYou're just going for the party and the snow, right? Why not just work and not go to school? Way more money, and more time to ski/party.
Is school at all important to you?
afterbanginnwhat? i got all my academic stuff straight i was just wondering which school was better for partying and skiing you understand?

TheDoughAbidesTRUTH! be prepared to regularly drive distances larger than twice the width of your home state OP! but i guess youre used to that as a ski bum living in RI haha
afterbanginncharlestown and yeah man the states like 50 miles so nothing takes over 45 minutes to get too ha
Profahoben_212Don't go to snc. Come to UNR if you want parties. From what I've heard they take stuff fairly seriously up at snc. That's all secondhand stories though

dh1028Im from westerly! I lived in silverthorne for 5 yrs .. although ive never gone to cmc the park skiing is the best. Co is always sunny.. and it seems to snow at night. dh1028Ok well then you have seen big mountains. When i came here i had never left new england...well i know that arapahoe basin and keystone have housing in keystone at tenderfoot. Which is what got me out here a basin is super easy to get a job at. So if u can do that you will have a place to stay.. breck is where cmc is tho.. so it might be hard unless u have a whip...but if you work for a basin you ski the WHOLE state for free they have a ticket agreement with every resort. But thats what i did i lined up a job and a place to stay with a basin then headed out. Maybe just do that and sign uo for cmc once you get settled and you decide you like it here. School to me seems like a waste of time if u have common sense. And the work ethic bar is set extremely low in summit county. If you are responsible and do a good job at work you will be a hero. No one cares about w9rking here so they have trouble keeping good employees. Anyway hope this info helps ive been here a while and have a lot of info i could have used when i was headed here feel free to hit me up kid! Safe travels for whatever you choose... i also worked at the shelter harbor inn as a teenager! Haha
