Ive read reviews that say the colored bases on these skis bleed when waxed. This year's models come with black bases which I'm guessing was to solve this issue. I just got some 2016s on the cheap but read this after the fact and now im worried. Has anyone has any experience with this happening to their black crows? What do they mean "bleed" exactly. Does it hurt the skis performance?
I wouldn't worry about it, if you manage to melt the base when waxing then either you got faulty skis, set the iron way too hot, or left the iron on the same spot for too long.
Probably will just be a cosmetic thing if the colours on the base bleed.
My best guess would be a slight form of sublimation happening when they get heated up during waxing, where the iron heat is pulling some ink out of the base. Nothing that should affect ski performance though, simply cosmetic.
Just take your time and wax at a lower temperature the first couple of times and go up from there if you don't notice any bleeding.
