Which Skis should I go for?

Hey guys

Im planing to get a new pair of Parkskis for this season.

To me:

- 1,84meters
- 70kg weight
- Riding style: Beginner in park (optimizing my 360s atm), but kinda expert on groomers (sometimes Im doing fast, wide open turns and sometimes, little short turns).

Im looking for a ski which is good in the park, and also good for butters, ollie etc.
But it should still be good for going down groomers with speed.

I got some skis which I already saw, in the () is my own opinion (you can also correct me if its wrong)

- Line Blend (maybe too soft?)
- Line Chronic (are they good for butters?, whats about their on piste performance?)
- Line TW Pro
- Faction Candide 2.0 (kinda big underfoot)
- Faction Candide 1.0 (too stiff = bad performance for butters?)
- Armada ARV 96
- Armada Edollo (too soft to drive them with speed on groomers?)

I also added a poll where you can vote for each of them. Also, if you know another ski who would fit my requirements, I would be glad if you let me know :)

Check out the shreditor 102s and the kartel 106s. I have skied both and I think either one would be what you are looking for

Yeah they're good park skis that can ski all mountain. For OP I think something like the Volkl Step would work well because they carve almost as well as the wall but are easier to butter.

True that, I think they will be too wide.


For fresh pow I got my Mordecai.

So like something of max. 10mm underfoot would be great.
I know the Faction 2.0 is wider, but I heard that you dont recognize their width while skiing them?.

102 really isn't that wide. Edollos are 99 underfoot. OP didn't say much about rails so he should be fine. I skied a couple days of park on Candide 4.0s and it wasn't bad at all.

On3p kartel 98 is everything you need but from the skis you mentioned i think the arv 96 would be the Best fit

Volkl ledges are cheap, light, super flexy, rip groomers and the park. Loved the ski when I was first getting into park. I don't understand the reasoning behind recommending him such a wide ski? What advantage would that give him on groomers and in the park?

Big_Mtn102 really isn't that wide. Edollos are 99 underfoot. OP didn't say much about rails so he should be fine. I skied a couple days of park on Candide 4.0s and it wasn't bad at all.


106s are definitely rideable in a park, you're not going to be whipping around 3 swaps lightning fast obviously, but i find myself wanting a narrower ski for park, dont get me wrong wide skis are super fun in the park but only if thats what you want.

id suggest the ON3P magnus and ON3P kartel 98s, line chronic or blends, revision talisman and the HG Transfer, seems like all of these skis have what you're looking for, couldnt go wrong with any of them.

I have a pair of Chronics and rode them so hard all of last season, they have hands down been the best pair of skis I've had. They were really good in the air, could have done with a little bit more pop on them though. Personally i think Line are killing atm so the Blends could also be for you. I've heard from various people that Armada are shit but I've never been on them so can't fully comment.

on3p is much more durable, very well built ski.

j skis are super soft. I've heard mixed things about durability though.

And whats about the Revision Talisman?

I mean ON3P are great (what I have heard, but they are also super pricey, and Revision Skis are on Sale I think)

IMO if i dropped $550+ dollars id go with ON3Ps. Jskis a are cool skis, but don't have the durability for $550 that ON3P does. Id go for Filthys or the Kartel, pick a ski that has the width and flex you want.

Talismans are good, not as durable. I think the sale ended too, so they're not cheap anymore. And I'm pretty sure j skis are more expensive or just as expensive as ON3P.

I'd honestly just get ON3P. They're super good.

You can look into KF as well, but I'd still go ON3P. Super good ski for not too bad of a price tbh..

What do you want to know? I haven't skied to Magnus/Filthy but both are good skis. I do have the Kartels though and they are great.

Magnus will be a softer for sure, but still not noodles. They'll be skinnier, lighter, definitely more park oriented. The Kartel on the other hand, especially the 98, is still a park ski but a fat park ski. If you like wider skis in the park go for the 98. It won't spin as fast or be as soft, but still a super fun ski in the park and you'll be able to take it out of the park and rip it too.

You said you are looking for a park ski that will be super fun in the park and handle the groomers well. I think the Magnus will do that very well.

My vote says magnus, unless you want a fatter ski, then kartel

Flex and underfoot and pricing. The magnus is gona be slightly softer and skinnier (more of a park oriented skis whereas the latter is an all mountain park ski or a wider park ski)

So the Kartel is stiffer than the Magnus, did I get that right?

Probably just gonna try to get some Kartel 98, because of that sick trailer ON3P dropped with Karl :D

Yes Kartel is stiffer.

You'll love the Kartel such a fun ski.

I have 14 Chronics and 16 blends will be here Friday. I love the Chronics but going out west more so I wanted something wider for pow but not loose the high from the Chronic.

But still, I get like import taxes made by the "cool" swiss post... and they are probably like another 100 bucks...

Just FYI, so you can do calculations, according to the import info:
Switzerland
Duty = 0% + CHF 49.00 per 100 kg
Tax = 8%

We list our replacement cost as the value of the skis, so I believe it would cost you about $25.

As for the ARV 96 - brand new model so going to be pretty limited feedback at this time - maybe PM LogamImlach. I think there was some testing info in here as well.

But if I would go for the Kartel 98.. which size should I go for? 181cm or 176cm?

The guys from treelee told me I should go 181.. but isnt that a bit big? or is the rocker kf the ski just that massive?

I would lean 181cm as well, due to the rocker. You can grow into a ski, but once you outgrow a ski, there is no coming back.

So shall I go for the 181cm then?

If I understood you right you mean that, the eventuall struggle in the beginning with a longer ski is worth to go through?:D (Im from Switzerland as you know.. so my english isnt totally perfect :D)
