why doesnt skiing get any publicity

everytime i watch something like the x games all you see is advertisments for shawn white and snowboarding and motox and even fucking skiercross. you never hear 'watch tanner hall defend the gold at 9 pm tonight' i dont even know when superpipe is cause they never talk about it. And same with the annoucers they dont know shit about skiing they get most of the snowboard tricks right but with skiing theyre like 'and a big 1080' no that was a switch cork 10 tail dumb bitch

Because skiing is still overwhelmed by snowboarding and other more 'extreme' sports. A lot of people who 'snowboard' are yuppy fucknuts and when those yuppy fucknuts are sitting in their yuppy fucknut houses watching the X games, they watch snowboarding and like snowboarding because it's the cool thing. They like motorcross because motorcross guy's with tatoo sleeves, a backwards fitted hat, and a pair spy sunglasses are the shit these days (I don't think so, but just look around).
The ski industry has FAILED to prove to the masses that 'newschool' skiing is cool. So for all you people who 'rep' 'core' companies so that you feel orginal, you can stop talking so much shit because NS skiing isn't popular anyways. Hence why we have no video game and are virtually forgotten about when it comes to television. Personally, I don't give a fuck if people like NS skiing. I've skied since I was 4 and I'll be skiing as long as my body will let me.
ESPN knows that snowboarding gets more viewers. ESPN knows that they can get more viewers from a wider range of people if they advertise for Skier X. Old racers in their 40s feel young and extreme watching Skier X. You think ESPN doesn't want their money? Think about all the dirtbike enthusiasts who watch not only the summer X games but now the Winter X games too?
It's marketing kiddies and all the athletes at the comps are just pawns to attract us so that we buy more shit. Snowboarding is the best bait out there right now and it catches the most fish.

Actually, I watch the weather channel alot, and the only interview they had this weekend was Simon Dumont. So you know when the weather channel picks a skier to interview, we're gettin some publicity.

Superpipe is Tues night. And, they plastered the hell out of tanner all weekend 'going for the fourpete' just to make people watch in suspense, I got sick of hearing about him

well I think we understand that...but its more like WHY dont they like skiing.
Skiing is getting there. The people that matter for progression know whats up, but the rest of the skiing and snowboarding industry still sees 'skiing' as the 50 year old tourist at Vail, where as when you think snowboarding you think Shawn White.
