Backcountry skiing database

So, I have a touring setup, a few solid bc partners and will taking my AAIRE Course this december or so. I'm looking to go literally balls deep in Backcountry sking. For me, it's the next horizon of skiing - the next frontier - skill to learn.

Anyway, I was wondering if there's a sight similar to the MTB Project our there. For you non bikers, its basically a site where people can post routes, and give descriptions/overviews of the trails. Let me know if there's anything out there. Any guide books (someone skiing front range- central colorado.)

Google earth and topographical maps works really well. Also, hiking guidebooks can help a lot.

There are plenty of resources out there as it is. I don't see a reason to help more people cunt up the wilderness with dumb skin tracks and poor route planning. Find someone who has gone before, break trail for them and carry their beer. You'll likely make a new friend out of it too.

Sharing beta on torung spots is way different that sharing beta about bike trails.

Bike trails are very defined, they are the only route from point a to be. someone built them and loved them and now shares them.

Ski routes, are searched out and plotted. topos are poured over. Some approaches take a few goes before you find the right route, or the right aspect. Its a lot of work.

bike trails often get better the more they are ridden. If someone shows up at your fav spot, that you spent the last few years trying to unlock... it doesn't make anything better.

You can have hundreds of bikers on a trail at one time and the worst case is, you just have to ride slow, and maybe eat some dust.

Even one other party on the same slope/ aspect as you can increase your risk while touring.

..... so thats why its easier to find beta on MTB trails than it is on touring.

finding a group who tours in your area and trying to pair up with them is always the beast bet. not just for the knowledge of the train, but for the mentorship opportunities. Way more shit consider on an easy day touring than on the most difficult day MTB.
