Looking for dslr/camera

I have always been very interested in photography and know some basics. I am probably going to be doing most shooting outdoors, a lot is going to be skiing and a lot is going to be anything else misc. (mainly cars). My budget for the camera is 1,000. I want to be able to shoot video and photo. I know the Canon 70d seems to do that well. Im also going to be buying a computer and im spending about 2,000 on that. Any opinions on editing with macs etc.?

For photo editing you probably don't need a $2000 computer. Spend more on your lenses then your camera

Just bought a Panasonic G7 and i'm pretty impressed, coming from a Canon t2i. Got a great deal with 2 lenses for about 1000$ on b&h. But might need to budget in a tripod and gimbal/glidecam to make it worth it for filming.

I recommend the canon t6s unlisted you can get a really good deal on the 70d. If you are doing mostly stills I'd say don't go mirrorless. They do produce quality images but there interfaces usually suck and their low light performance is not as good as a dslr. Definitely invest more in your lenses, those are more important

get some around 400-500 dolars and get your self some decent glass

Canon's 6D runs for about $1500 now, which could be good if you're not too worried about FPS or video. The 7D2 runs at that same price, does more frames a second, better video, but is a crop sensor.

I know it's a bit over your budget, but just some cameras to consider.

Check out the sony a6000, I have a few buddies who shoot with it. It's extremely compact, mirrorless sensor, can shoot at 11 fps, and Sony's are amazing quality overall. For a lens and camera it's relatively cheap too

Just about any computer these days can work well for editing. When I started laptops couldn't keep up but they work great now.

As for cameras, really the most important part is the glass. Any DSLR around $550 on up now is pretty solid. A little higher end and you have easier manual controls to work with which can help a lot. But the glass is what you'll always keep.

Enjoy shooting with your new gear, it's a lot of fun for sure.
