Newschoolers Fantasy Football Money League - V.5

New thread, new season. I'm gonna take the league from Steezy_P this year, he's asked to step down since he has gotten very busy and can't run the league this year. If you paid and played last year you've got priority to play again, I think that's most fair. If you've never played with us get your name down and if someone drops off we can add you in.

Pretty sure we had 12 people last year so we will try to do that again. Also, the buy-in was $25 and lets run with that number again unless anyone has any major objections. This year we will be doing the invites a bit differently, you will receive an invite once you have paid for the league. This way we do not have what happened last time where people signed up buy did not pay. I will do my best to send invited quickly after people pay.

For the draft, we should do the google hangout draft party again, its always a good time. When you say you are in for the league, post up when you are available for the draft. The first game of the season is Thursday, Sept 8th. My vote is to do it right before that so we avoid the preseason injuries and all that shit. Sept 5th, 6th, or 7th works best for me.

For sending payment, we used paypal last year and I think we can do that again. Can't remember what the payout was for last year since I did not win, please remind me.

I would like to join again.

My payout last year was $250, with second place getting $50. We used PayPal and that seemed to work fine. $25 or more buy-in works for me.

I am available to draft either September 6th or 7th.

My league/scoring ideas:

12 man league.

Snake draft where order is based off of last years standings; either by 1st goes 1st etc., or 1st chooses where to draft and it goes along like that.

.5 point per reception because it opens up more players to be useful in a deep league and takes some weight off of lucky touchdowns without making receivers too valuable.

Adding one more Wide Receiver position and another bench spot.

No divisions.

Scoring: https://i.imgur.com/GszjJfE.png . By changing it to this way, we will gain or lose fractional points per single yard and single game point. This creates fractional scoring, overall balance for defenses that give up yards and/or points, and far less silly things about ESPNs system (like the 2 point swing from 399 yards given up to 400 yards given up.This creates the most accurate scaling. It worked perfectly over a few leagues last year. Also, I recommend we change each safety to 3 points, as it is a scoring play and is important to a game. In my opinion, it doesn't hold enough weight as is.

Waiver wire should be Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB) where we have a set amount of money for the season (100, 200, etc.) and must bid on each waiver claim throughout the season to win players. My second choice would be normal waiver claims where the order is based off of the usage, not standings.

we MUST have FAAB waiver.

Its pretty simple, you get x dollars (usually $100) to spend on waiver pick ups

IE mccoy gets hurt and karlos williams would be the starter, hes on the waiver, everyone wants him. In a waiver priority situation, whoever was lucky enough to get the 1st waiver priority gets him, not fair. FAAB forces you to cough up the dollars for how worthwhile he is to you.

So the person who bids the highest dollar amount on the player gets him, so if you're fucked for RBs you could toss like $70 at him and probably get him, but then you'd only have $30 for the rest of the season, etc. Its quite simple and works very well.

Yeah the 7th could be a good day, or we could do it a week early? monday the 29th or tuesday the 30th? the 4th preseason game is worthless, none of the starters play, so everyones ranks should be set by then.

I vote for that, after 8pm EST works great for me as well.

Can we get everyone to chime in here? Comment if you're down for 29/30 or 6/7 and if after 8pm est works for you.

Cant do 29th or 30th. 6th works after 9 EST and 7th anytime after 6 EST.

I'm gonna set the draft for the 6th at 9 PM EST. Everyone seems to be pretty good with that time.



If you played in the league last year and want to play again PM me soon. Time's running out before I start giving up your spot. I want to get the league completely full by next Wednesday before I go to Brazil. That way if I get kidnapped and can't invite any more people you all can still have the league. But seriously, I don't wanna be doing this shit on vacation.


I'll probably start inviting wait list people next week.
