I'm putting together my first AT setup for short trips here in the Cascades. So far I have been boot packing and I'm doing this to hopefully avoid some post holing. Curious what type of skin material I should get nylon, mohair mix, etc. Also do people have a big preference on the tip and tail attachment system? The skis I will be using are Whitedot directors which have a rounded twin tip.
I'd say mix or nylon, nylon if its really just gonna be short trips. BD ascensionist are pretty solid, as are G3 alpinist. I can't personally attest to their tip/tail attachment as I have Dynafit speedskins, but have plenty of friends that are happy with both.
