like i been done thinking about the state of park skiing and noticed that bro culture (like partying and drinking and generally being lairy) is still like a super prominent aspect of the sport. like i got nothing against that whole side of things, but i still struggle to understand why that element has crept into a sport that's fundamentally so chill and kinda opposite to the gangster, frat boy mentalities. it just seems weird that other sports, like skating have a rather large array of subcultures and groups where park skiing seems a lot less diverse in terms of these subcultures. maybe it is because skiing is fairly more niche, but there is still a lot more room for the kind of expansion and play with the park skiing sub cultures. idk maybe i'm just chatting shit. not trying to diss anybody like you guys keep doing what u do but just kinda want a discussion about it maybe
I think that the reason skating has so many sub cultures is that theres a whole lot more people who do it and a way more wide variety of people who have access to it. Only like .5% of the population can afford an knows what freeskiing is. A complete at Walmart is like 30 bucks and a real setup is like around 150. Pavement is everywhere and alot more available than a ski hill. In skating u get the variety of people like antwaun dixon a crazy motherfucker who went to jail of a while and little six year olds
Recently I've started focusing less and less on actually skiing, and more so on engaging in hoodrat activities with my friends while on the mountain. It has suprisingly been more beneficial to my skiing.

I feel like skiers that aren't partiers and have more self respect for themselves don't get as much love in park skiing. Like genuine, chill people are considered lame or "not core". The cocky, social-media skiers that get wasted every night and post it everwhere get noticed more.

Genuine, chill people are considered lame and "not core"? There are so many pros/influencers in skiing who fit this description (Will Wesson for example) who are very core and not lame at at all.
Also, I'm guessing you're alluding to Hoodcrew/Molesquad/ect about the "cocky, social-media skiers that get wasted every night and post it everywhere" getting noticed more, huh? Of course they will because there's a large segment of skiing that is vanilla af, so when there's a disruption/something that doesn't fit the "norm" they get noticed. They are really fucking good at skiing so it's not like they get attention for their party antics alone.

Maybe a lot of skiers party because a lot of people in general party...? Most ski bums are in their early to mid 20s which is prime party time with minimal responsibilities. but it's not like skiers are the only people partying out there, come on. What kind of question is this?

I disagree with this. A skier is gonna be respected largely because they're a rad skier, put out rad content etc. Someone who is more active on social media(maybe the "cocky skier") is obviously going to get more attention. Social media like instagram is a way for a skier to market themselves so if you put out a lot of rad shit, you're gonna get praised for it.

Skiing is ever changing- that's the beauty of it. You can find a group that you fit in with regardless of who you are.
Into frat boi antics? Stoner? Straight edge? There's a crew out there for you. It's his rely so cool to see as port that attracts such die verse groups of people.
Maybe it's where you ski, but everyone where I'm from is friendly to everyone, and yet there are still well defined groups with their own cultures.
