Arguably the biggest example of white privilege which is a direct correlation to quality of life is that a white sounding name is far more likely to get a callback than a black sounding name. This study found that a "black" name needed to send in 15 resumes to get one callback, whereas a "white" name needed to send in 10 resumes to get one callback. And this was on the exact same fucking resume. So tell me, how can you say white privilege doesn't apply to the majority of whites and there are more variables that determine an individual's success when a white person is far more likely to get callback than a black person when they have the exact same resume??? So even when a black person is just as smart, qualified and ready for a job, they still face discrimination in even getting a callback. And you have the nerve to say white privilage doesn't apply to the great majority of whites.

S.J.WNo, privilege comes in all forms. Being black, white, asian, muslim all have their own special privileges.But being white has the largest privilege mostly from a system which benefits them. Like systematic racism keeps blacks poor. For example, a black person with similar qualifications is going to be on average paid less than a white person with the same qualifications for the same job.

.MASSHOLE.Well you're posing a question that is misleading. Whites are not shooting blacks, cops are shooting blacks. Are there more white cops than black cops? According to a 2007 study the answer is yes, only 12% of cops are black.

But, if you have followed some of the shootings in the past ~24 months, there have been black cops involved. It is almost certainly a race issue, but it is also a power issue. Cops shooting blacks is not genetic, it is systemic.

They look at blacks commuting crime and think because they are black then that's the reason they commit crime.

Also so to your point of 93% of blacks killed by blacks. Snoop Dogg (crip) and the game (blood) stood in solidarity with each other whilst protesting police violence as a message to stop black crime. Whether this sentiment translates to real world action only time will tell.

S.J.WThe protests is Dallas were very peaceful until someone started shooting. Protesters were taking pictures with police and there was no violence. How come you don't label kenucks fans a hate group after the riots??? And if you've been on the blm website it's clear in their objectives. Hating police is not one of them. Sno.People don't think that blacks commit more crimes simply because they're black. No one thinks they're different genetically. People think that blacks commit more crimes because they do. Everyone knows there are reasons why they do, and that it has to do with a lot of them being raised in high crime neighborhoods, and the reason they're raised in high crime neighborhoods is because they were forced there through racism. One can say that the reason that black people are shot more often by cops is because they have high crime rates without denying that there are legitimate reasons for it. They aren't mutually exclusive.

Or the fact that, at the rate cops kill black people per year, it would take them 40+ years to kill as many black people as those murdered by other blacks on a yearly basis.

It's a joke, they act like cops actively target black males. Well lets look at the numbers. Blacks make up roughly 13% of the population yet they commit more than 50% of all total homicides and have been doing so at that number for more than 30 years straight. The offending rate is more than 8x times higher for blacks than whites and the victim rate is more than 6x higher. Of course people will inevitably blame the socioeconomic conditions for this, but that's bullshit. Being poor isn't an excuse to commit crime. Fuck BLM.

onenerdykidIf you analyze everything you've just said, we shouldn't be opposed to BLM but rather acknowledge that we have a lot of work to do. Why shouldn't all of the points you've raised not be addressed? Police disproportionately killing blacks, while at the same time killing more whites overall should be seen as an overall major societal problem. So is the statistical fact that black-on-black homicide is higher than that of cops killing blacks, etc. etc. Why shouldn't I show support for both the BLM and the PBA/FOP? Why shouldn't we admit that there is a major problem within our inner cities that needs more attention given to actual education and job creation?

Are there things that every community (including predominantly black ones) could be doing better? Of course, yes. But as soon as you step back and ask yourself, "Would I want to live in their situation or be treated the way they are?" the answer becomes pretty clear- no, none of us would. And then we need to ask ourselves, "Well, why is that?" and "If I wouldn't want to be in that position, there is a problem there, and what should be done in order to solve the problem?".

Being poor isn't an excuse to commit crime, which is true and no one is making that claim. But being poor does mean you will most likely have a less than standard upbringing, a lesser quality education, and growing up in a system that is generally perpetuating this shitty circle of life. This is not an excuse, but it is an explanation and once you know the causes of a problem you can better solve the problem.

Charlie_KellyWhat is never mentioned is incentives put in place to counteract this cycle. Proportionally how many white kids get scholarships vs. blacks or asians or hispanics or native Americans? Not talking grades, talking ethnicity. It's not like our government doesn't recognize the problem with education and is trying to fix it.
