BombogenesisWhat percentage of violent crime do they account for? Thanks in advance.
Are you actually trying to justify the killing of unarmed people because of a violent crime statistic?
I have absolutely no problem with police using violence against criminals. I have a problem with police going well beyond the measured response and you have to be blind or willfully ignorant to claim that this isn't happening more than it should.
Here's a little test, it's called the veil of ignorance. If you want to assess the morality or fairness of a given social issue, you imagine yourself behind a veil of ignorance. Behind this veil, you know nothing of yourself and your natural abilities, or your position in society. You know nothing of your sex, race, nationality, or any personal likes or dislikes. Behind such a veil all individuals are simply specified as rational, free, and morally equal beings. You just know the events as they unfold, without the irrelevant factors. If you put yourself in any of these scenarios that unfolded this week (cops or citizens) and assess it from behind this veil, how does it pan out for you? Has justice truly been done? I have a really hard time thinking anyone would say yes.
