saskskierI hope Mark Hughes gets (at the very, very, very least) an apology from the Dallas Police. Immediately turns in the gun he was carrying and cooperates with the police. Instead of getting a thank you, they plaster his picture all over the news and call him a suspect. Turns himself in and continues to cooperate and they confiscate his gun and his clothes.

Outside of being an actual cop in uniform, I'm not sure he could have been any more cooperative and he's still treated like one of the shooters.

JGWIBecause why would he? Everything I listed is very relevant. Normal law abiding people which everything we know about him would suggest he is, don't just shoot cops for shits and giggles, especially when there is a kid in the car.

Look. Typically I am the first to defend the police (I have many friends in law enforcement), but unless something major comes out, this man was murdered.

Separate the group from the individual. If you look at their website you can clearly see what they believe in. Killing police officers is not on the list of agendas. Also the protest in dallas were pretty peaceful. So much in fact that protesters and police were taking photos together.

Want to know why black lives matter arose? Because black unarmed men are more likely to be shot by police officers than their white counterpart. UNARMED. They are seven times more likely to be shot than their white peer.

And before anyone starts bullshitting on about all lives matter. If you had a fire in a street and you called the fire brigade. The brigade wouldn't start putting water on all houses because all houses matter. You would water out the house with the fire burning. Same with black lives matter. When you are seven times more likely to be shot by a police officer than your white counterpart, there is a failure in the system. Whether it is the way society views black men, police training or whatever it is. Something needs to happen. And you're being willfully ignorant if you think otherwise.

If a cop (or anyone for that matter) has a gun to your face giving you explicit instructions then you should listen, doing anything other than what you have been instructed is going to get you shot, not that hard a concept to grasp apparently only thugs do not understand this. I have a really hard time thinking anyone would say yes.

brotoI'm sorry, but whether or not sterling was "asking for it," I don't think he deserved to die. Are there not deescalation procedures in place to prevent these things from happening? Nobody should end up dead for not following instructions from a police officer. It's not worth a human life. If another human life is at risk, that's a different story. And we don't know all the facts yet, but LEOs seem awfully quick to use deadly force these days in many cases where it looks completely unneccessary.

There is a difference between having to respect an officer and having to completely submit to authority under the guise of respect. When people feel they are being subjected to the latter, it doesn't surprise me when officers are not met with respect in turn. I'm not justifying any actions here, just trying to explain. But whether Alton Sterling was innocent or not, he appeared to me to be assumed guilty until proven innocent. He stood no trial and is now dead. That's not how our justice system is supposed to work. Justice isn't supposed to be served on the streets, that's what our courts are for.
