DJi Ronin Edits

If I'm not mistaken, I recall someone posted an edit, or I may have found the edit. But it was a clip filmed with a ronin. Was hoping someone could help me out and post the link if they know what edit it was.

That's a killer edit no doubt, but he uses glidecam, atleast thats what it looks like to my eye. A gimbal to me is a very different look and was jut hoping someone could point out or link edits that have used them.

There are frames in it where u can see the shadow of the ronin and I've seen him filming in real life.

No he uses gimbal but not for deadkind. He used it for the other jake carney simple edits. He uses it in a discrete way that really works

This is clutch! Thanks for posting it. Mind me asking if you ever have any issues with the battery and the cold, or snow and the ronin itself. Im a bit scared to take mine up on snow and risk water damage.

The battery lasts the same amount of time in the snow or cold. I normally get 3 to 4 hours a battery. It's really durable. I've had my ronin sprayed with snow, hit with skis and used it in 0 degree weather. The last shot of the prelude edit nick hits the ronin when it was at the end of the wall ride and nothing was damaged. It's more durable than the movi. I prefer the firmware the freefly movi uses its better for more professional sets but the ronin does a great job when you need something more durable that you can just strap to a backpack and take out on the mountain.

Im only speaking on behalf of deadkind, what he uses in his other edits I'm not sure. But from my eye, the shadows at .33-.39 of deadkind its a glidecam like shot and shadow. Maybe the clip has both. But to me that edit looks like it was filmed mostly on a glidecam, but I'm not 100% only he can tell us that

Don't be scared, they are very strong and durable. I have filmed in complete white outs to sleet storms. Never had a ny problems. feel free to ask questions if you got them

SkiLefleyDon't be scared, they are very strong and durable. I have filmed in complete white outs to sleet storms. Never had a ny problems. feel free to ask questions if you got them



Do either of you use a monitor with it? Via while ski filming or filming other projects with it.

Yes I have a monitor hooked up on one of my ronin m. Used it a little bit while skiing not a ton but i have. kinda gets in the way when moving that fast and stuff. however for freelance work it is very nice

I don't use a monitor all the time for skiing. It's hard to view when you are skiing fast and gets in the way sometimes.

When I'm using it for commercial and narrative work I use an onboard monitor mounted to the handlebars, normally a smallHD 502 and then use a wireless video transmitter to a second monitor for the remote operator and 1st AC to pull focus.
I've tried to use the wireless trans for skiing but only get 500ft of range and it normally isn't enough range on the mountain. For skiing I rarely go tighter than 24mm on the gimbal because framing gets tricky.
Off skis all go up to 400mm. All of the aerial non drone footage from the nick goepper home video, the shots in the beginning and end of the edit are shooting out of any airplane with the ronin and at 100-400mm
