Doping in skiing

Do you think there's doping that happens in skiing to improve performance? 10 years ago I would say no, but now with the Olympics and everything I wonder if any of our favourite pros are using performance enhancing drugs.

It's not unthinkable, but I'm not sure our lifestyle really promotes it. There probably will be someone busted at one point, but I don't think it will become a thing like in many other sports. It will be isolated incidents, not organised like in cycling and track and field.

In all the controversy surrounding the Oslo X-Games, lots of people said that performance enhancing drugs were common in skiing/snowboarding, because weed makes you fearless. I guess that just means they never smoked weed, and that many norwegians consider weed to be equivalent to heroin, no shit.

But fuck, during comp season, they are tested a lot, and since weed is detectable for a good amount of time, I'm pretty sure most comp athletes have given it up, or at least only do it outside comp season.

Comp guys start using doping to get them triple corks on every jump and progress the sport..

I don't think doping would help much in skiing. PED's that improve strength really aren't necessary since skiing is a much more technique oriented sport. Like people above said, the only drug used much in the sport is probably weed.

The people who will get popped (and yes it will happen) will be for a banned substance that they are taking to get over an injury. The majority of doping cases in non endurance sports are due to injury recovery not added strength or stamina, its so they can get healthy and 100% faster. We will see this in skiing sometime in the near future, heck we have already seen it in golf.

all I know is one of the first times I did adderall I sent a double backy and stomped the fuck out of it 3 times in a row. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are on it

yea skiing risnt a very cardio heavy sport. the only competition i can think of where blood doping would make a big difference would be randonee racing, and can you really call that skiing?

Steroids could help get someone up to the strength levels they need. i think you only need so much muscle for park skiing though. it will help with injury prevention, can help with your take off and landings, and your style in the air. that said i dont think having 300lbs of muscle would help you in the park. racing is a bit of different story though.

basically the only time that steroids would help would be if someone was small to start with, and
didn't have time to get them selves to the level they need to be at to compete.

I dunno about style, but bigger muscles (to an extent) will mean less likelihood of injuries. Again to an extent, generally the risks would outweigh the benefits of using doping in freestyle skiing, so it will most likely not be a common thing.

yea i was struggling to put that into words. when you have better core strength you your movements will be much more fluid, typically making your tricks look less sketchy. style was not the best choice of word.

I know some professional skiers, and they told me that a lot of people are taking SARMs, because it has a very good effect and is not dangerous. I don't know if it's allowed or not, but many of them are really using it. They say it if SARMs is taken in the correct dosage, it doesn't have any side effects and gives a very strong boost. The most important thing is to buy SARMs only from verified sellers, like https://narcoculture.com/sarms-for-sale/. If everything is done correctly, it's going to be fine.

I could see there being a bunch of doping with regards to injury recoveries and some potentially sketchy drugs there. Overall I dont think there's enough money in freeskiing for it to become super prevalent though

Doping isn’t really necessary in skiing like others said. I doubt there is any use at all tbh. The sport is more technique orientated - like skateboarding, how would testosterone help you kick flip?
Also free skiing doesn’t really require insane amounts of strength or cardio either, so being able to recover ultra quick is almost completely useless.

Weed and party drugs are probably the most common but they’re not being used to enhance performance.

maybe not as much in freestyle skiing but i bet that blood doping would be pretty popular in the racing scene. there was that one dude last year that got caught in his hotel room blood doping

they actually raised the tolerance values up because everyone failed the first year.

so you can smoke weed betweeen comps and off season its no problem if you have an appropriate time off like 2 weeks prior to tests

The XC and biathlon guys probably get tested constantly. Slopestyle, not so much. Besides why would anyone go pro in skiing if it meant you couldn't smoke weed?

SARMs is for selective ansdrogene receptor modulators and they are a novel class of androgen receptor ligands. They are intended to have the same kind of effects as androgenic drugs but be much more selective in their action allowing them to be used for more uses than the relatively limited legitimate uses of anabolic steroids

i knew some dudes at squaw who considered blow to be part of their equipment, they would do hilarious amounts of it and they dropped some of the gnarliest cliffs around. worked for them apparently lmao


booze is kind of interesting 'cause it's basically liquid skill for some people on skis. i know they acknowledge alcohol as a PED in gun marksmanship competitions and it's therefore banned for them, but i have a hard time seeing that happening in skiing

maybe a few of the comp hardos dabble in traditional PEDs but as people have said, skiing is much more a technique sport than it is a strength or endurance sport. being strong and fit (naturally and/or with PEDs) will help with injuries though for sure

If i had a butt plug in and i was competing in halfpipe i would just ski down the pipe and straight air the whole thing so that everybody knew i had a buttplug in and they could be super stoked about my performance and anybody who hates me is just a sexist man hater who doesnt understand buttplug psychology.

For ski racers yes 100%. If its in the olympics then everyone is using PEDs. There was so much political dick waving about banning Russia from the olympic team when the main takeaway from the whistle blower was that literally every country on earth had state supported doping for the olympics. For freestyle skiers and freeride skiers i dont think so. The benefit doesnt out weigh the cost.
