Replying to South America Advice (Mainly Argentina)
Hey checked the regionals and no one posted since 2012 and nothing helpful. Any advice on the following would be helpful, in trying to decide the trip to do. A buddy and I are looking for some rowdier terrain and reasonable cost with out going full ski bum. Were going the 1st week and a half of September:
Trip 1: Santiago Chile, rent a car hit up Portillo on the way there and back with Las Lenas and its epic looking Back Country as our main objective. Basically take the lift up every day, do a couple warm up laps, then skin off the top.
Trip 2: Cerro Catedral in Bariloche, ski the resort the first couple days to get the legs and liver going. Then hit up the BC hut system for a week (it looks like you can have all meals made for you, which would be a big deciding factor, but since my only phrase in Spanish is , "mamasita, yo quirro las tetas y la panocha" reading the website was quite difficult) and ski some sick lines, before winding the legs down and wrecking the liver back at the resort.
