SNOW the video game's new competition

So this new game just got announced by Ubisoft, it's called Steep. Looks like SNOW has some new competition.

I just saw this on youtube and was about to make a post about it but it looks like you beat me to it. Anyways it looks really cool and I hope it turns out well. It seamed to be getting a lot of negative feedback in the youtube comments so it will be interesting to see how it does outside of the skiing/snowboarding communities.

Looks cool but it's all backcountry (which is obviously the point of the game). I'd like to see a lot more parks and similar things that SNOW has.

Pretty stoked to check this out but also feel pretty bad for the SNOW crew, they were working pretty hard with just a few people for a long time and then Ubi just comes along with a huge staff and blows it away, maybe they'll focus hard on park now which could be sweet.

It would be nice, STEEP doesn't have rails, and SNOW has the infinity park, which is so well designed it makes me wish the mechanics weren't shit.

Also competition is always good. Maybe SNOW will raise their game.

Their snowpark. It's rail focused, but has lot's of jumps. It reminds me a lot of every Euro skiers favourite park: The Stash in Avoriaz. Basically loads of features running down a long run through trees, with multiple routes.

Unfortunately the rail mechanics suck, so it isn't really any fun to lap.

I can see this game great for parks and backcountry, snows rail mechanics bother me just because surface swaps are too easy and SNOW needs to make more maps.

snow might actually be fun if getting lined up with the rails wasn't completely impossible with how twitchy the controls are. It feels like its almost impossible to go straight from the cameras POV, you have to be going either a little left or a little right of it.

I'm really hopping that SNOW has some better mechanics coming down the line. But Steep's controls look super smooth.
