What traits have you gained from skiing?

Pretty much any activity that you participate in for a long period of time will change you in some way, mentally and/or physically.

I think skiing has made me a more confident person in many situations. Riding the chairlift with people from so many different backrounds and striking up conversations with them has made me more social person, and It has really made me come out of my shell and express my personality.

Challenging myself physically and taking hard falls has made me more persistent.

It has changed my mentality on life, sports, and just the way I perceive things. My attitude has changed a lot too, I care less about shit now which is good and bad

It's honestly a way for me to get out all my frustrations, especially during the spring.

Like anytime I am stressed out or frustrated, I just head up to the Basin on a nice, uncrowded spring day and ski fast as fuck. It's fun and relieving

Skiing gave me direction in life. Most people I know have some kind of direction in their life; finishing school, their career, married & kids. I always felt that shit was made up though, like what is it all for? Is your endgame to be a lawyer so you can have nice shit and drive a bmw? But I still went to school because 'it was the thing to do' but I ended up losing my sports scholarship, getting kicked out of school and getting fired from almost every job I ever had.

But one day I was talking to my dad and he suggested I go do a ski season. Well I went and did a ski season as well as 6 more and while being a ski bum isn't what I'm about anymore, it gave me something to strive for that I really wanted, and that wasn't made up: skiing.

Now I live my life with the goal of being able to shred whenever I want, and not having to worry about money. And I'm way happier and accomplishing way more with my life because I have that goal.

Confidence and focus in terms of speed / style / stability / selection (terrain)

Focus is not getting distracted while under mental and physical pressure.

Problem is I have not so great acrobatic skills and never liked GS racing, and never tried SL.

Hence the advent of Heartcave... I want to raise consciousness with that even more.

This. I don't think I realized it until I got my first job out of college 7 months ago. Glad I found it out this young though!

No joke. Skiing brings peace to my soul. Whenever I ski I have time to think about how everything is connected. When I am in the zone it is like Jesus is skiing for me and everything makes sense because of the Omnipresent nature of the divine.

By far the best thing about skiing to me is that it makes winter a fucking awesome season and I love snow.

Would hate to be one of those yuppies who hates the cold and sits inside all fucking winter complaining.

Ability to calm myself. If I have a bad week all I look forward to is being able to ride up that chairlift and then bomb down my home mountain where I know every crack and crevice. All my problems go away for a few hours and it's great

One of my favorite quotes: "You put on your boots, click into your bindings, dust the snow off your skis, and head out for the chair, and it doesn't matter that you failed a test, didn't get the girl, or that your life is on a one way trip down the shitter, your world is right for the next couple of hours."
