I saw a commercial for the Tour de France coming up in July, and I don't give a fuck about cycling, but it got me thinking: Is it possible to do something similar to the tour de france for skiing? There is already some type of tour de ski but it's some wack cross country type skiing and it's not what I had in mind.
You obviously couldn't take it in one straight route because no mountain has enough skiable terrain for that, but you could break it up into stages of like 20 different mountains or something. Have the best big mountain skiers from all over the world come out and start the first race in like Chamonix or a similar place, and whoever comes in first in that race gets a timed head start at the next mountain, and then the next one and so on(maybe throw in some freestyle features for added time reductions and style points). And you could have the final stage on the north face of mount everest or some wild shit like that.
The only liability I really see is the injury risk, but it's obvious that a lot of skiers just don't care when it comes to that so it shouldn't be a huge problem. Funding would also be an issue but we could just get some rich motherfucker like Jon Olson or Waka flocka to sponsor us and it'd all be good.
So, do you really think something like this is possible? I'd love to see it happen anyway.
