Head Injuries And CTE Within Action Sports

I'm hoping that exposure will help to open the door for further dialogue on the subject. Mental health, and problems that relate to head injuries are something we need to understand more about. Even the most stable, happy person who never takes any risks can be impacted through people they know.

Though there is no realistic way to prevent all head injuries, the more we research and find out about this topic the better.

Stay safe out there. If you get a concussion, give it some time to heal. You only get one brain.

Good call on bringing this up, concussions are no joke, I had one skating years back that left me in a daze for a week, failed every school assignment didn't go out and do anything just went on auto pilot for a week was so shitty I knew what I was doin but my mind wouldn't let me process how to fix it.

I started wearing a helmet and will never look back I have taken many Domers that rung my bell and always have someone check up on you.

There is a great documentary on permanent concussed states of the brain that leads to tons of suicide. It links to sportsand references football heavily it is called "I am" worth watching!

For sure, if you don't have MIPS you don't really have a helmet haha.

OP I'm guessing you've seen the new movie "Concussion" with Will Smith. If not, check it out. It has little to do with football and is all about the discover of CTE.

I got a concussion back in February that left me unconscious for a full minute, scary stuff. I would like to go to med school for Radiology and what not.

bumped for luca. i really hope all pro skiers are taking concussions more seriously these days. I remember seeing bobby bust his helmet in half at big air a couple years ago and, to my disbelief, he went right back up to hit the damned jump again.

i feel like action sports athletes are at even more risk than guys in the nfl because there's no way in hell that they have access to the same level of treatment.
