Jeff Weiss: "What's your name?"

Teen: "Why do you ask?"

Jeff: "Because I'm curious of why you're in my driveway stealing my Donald Trump signs?"

Teen: "Yes we are."

Jeff: "Why would you do such a thing?"

Teen: "Because we just don't agree with your political views."

Weiss found the teen's reasoning disheartening.

"I was disappointed that young people today think that it's okay to suppress viewpoints they don't agree with, rather than trying to have a conversation,” Weiss explained.

Here's more of their conversation:

Jeff: "Is that the right thing to do?"

Teen: "Well we are teenagers so I think we have a little bit of leeway."

lol yea also kids these days more or less spend way less time that a lot of us mid/late 20's folks.

Used to play this game, looking back feel like a total asshole about it, but basically was called LITR (Logs in the road)

Would used to line up like 6-9 inch diameter branches / trunks across this dirt road by my house and cars would get caught up in it (wheels would spin the way we laid them out didnt do damage)

So when they would get out to pull the logs out we would bombard them with waterballoons and run back through the woods

While I don't agree with what this guy is doing, there is a difference between removing them from public property and a private yard. You can take down/put up whatever you want on telephone poles

The problem here is more basic than political alignment- it's a problem inherent in people who
a) think they are right
b) think the people who oppose them are wrong and
c) think they can do whatever they want to those whom they claim to be wrong.

It's actually a classic example of Homeric virtue- do right to your friends and do wrong to your enemies. It's hardly new or modern, and countless examples of it can be found throughout human history. In these instances, people are targeting political rivals and "seeking justice" through wronging them by stealing their private property and/or stifling their freedom of speech & expression. What they fail to take note of is the inherent contradiction of their supposed moral high ground that allows them to commit a wrong. They wouldn't want the same done to themselves, but they think it's ok to do it to others whom they disagree with. It's not a liberal problem, it's not a conservative problem. It's a lack of practical reason problem.

People put them all along the roadway as if I'm going to be driving through the beautiful mountains and see some shitty sign for a politician and thing "Man, that sign really looks so fucking good against the scenery. I think I'll vote for him"
