Buying boots a half size too small?

hey gear talk

so my shoes are size 14 (31.5 mondo) but my last 2 pairs of full tilts been 31 and fit comfortably. it doesn't look like full tilt is making 31s anymore so I'm wondering if 30.5 will be too snug? or will the liner get punched out after a couple months? I have to buy them online because the local shop doesn't carry higher sizes and also they're selling soccer shit now.

Stupid question, but what was wrong with the last two pairs of boots? Why are you replacing them if they fit?

cause they are 4 years old and have broken buckles and worn down plastic toes/heels

how is that a stupid question? I'm simply asking if going down an extra half size (making it a full size down from my street shoes) is pushing it. do you need to be a dick?

Half sizes aren't really a thing. So you're really going down one full size. Go to a bootfitter and find out what it feels like on your foot. You may no longer be able to fit in full tilts.

If you didn't buy full tilts, you probably wouldn't even need new boots after only four years.

I think going smaller is better obviously than going bigger for boot size since in racing we sized down a lot...but that being said go to a boot fitter if you're unsure.

First off 30.5 and 30 fit the same the shell size is identical. Half sizes are some what of a lie. Going to a "performance fit" with less than 2 fingers in the shell fit.

The tighter the fit the better skiing of the boot but usually more uncomforatble

A bedded-in well fitting boot shouldnt be uncomfortable, your foot should be in a natural position and it should feel snug and like a firm handshake and i guess the more performance your fit the firmer that should be but to say a proper fitting boot is usually uncomfortable is wrong.

Half sizes aren't a lie? The shell size is the same but the liner / inside of the boot is different between a 30 and a 30.5
