California 99 weed plant rule

I know a couple of people that just got arrested for growing and distributing over 300 marijuana plants. They have a license to grow 99 plants for medical purposes but obviously they have other motives for their operation.

What is their likelihood that they will face jail time (misdemeanor/felony), if so how much?

Just want some info from people that may know more about the laws...

they should prepare their buttholes because the full fist of the law is coming in dry. bail them out and get them to escape on a raft to north korea, they will be better off in a North Korea prison camp than with any possible outcome here

Google the laws there. Honestly though a good amount of people on here are from CA, it's still not a huge percent. The majority of people on here are relatively nooby on these issues.

Really not a great place to look for answers man

Step 2: Don't grow more plants than the listed number.

I'd like to know the intricacies of the law . 99 plants , any size limit on these puppies? One could grow 99 monstrous bushes with a very high yielding strain rather than 300 regular sized plants . Also, does 99 plants count every seedling, clone , etc . ?
Even so , you should be a able to stay within the parameters of the law and reap a huge bounty with a 99 plant rule . Don't be greedy folks !

Generally you're told that at some point. Why ask us when the answer is right there.

Grow em super big, get shit weed much of the time, then you develop that rep and buyers dry up. You gotta grow what is in demand , and it needs to be super high quality. Yes it counts every clone/seedling above a certain height (a few inches).

OPs friends now have federal cases along with state cases hanging around their necks. Good luck with that.

hopefully they have some money set aside to get a decent lawyer. if they get hit with federal charges for cultivation+intent to distribute on 100-999 plants (which they will, hence the imperative need for a lawyer) they could be looking at 5-40 years in federal prison. like someone mentioned before it also has a whole lot to do with their priors; without any history they could easily get a reduced sentence and their federal charges dropped all together.

Good to know. What strains are coming out of humboldt/ the triangle these days. I lived in Oregon in the 90's and loved the bud from that region. Used to get a lot of trinity, Mendocino, train wreck , purps etc.

Idk. Haven't lived down there for a few years. Used to be all about grapes cause the chilly nights made em turn extra dark. Now, I just buy legal recreational bud from the shop on the corner. I don't smoke enough anymore to give a shit about paying a little more about than buying private in bulk.

Most of the folks I knew that lived and farmed in the hills got caught up, hooked on other drugs, or they just went full Mia.

No size limits, grow em big and outdoors get 5 lbs and its still one plant. 99 plants counts ever clone. Straight up don't be greedy. the fed gave a green light for anyone following the medical marijuana rules in their state to do what they need to, folks get greedy.
and like california grown said, your friends because they got greedy now have fed cases. UNLESS (i dont know the rules around there) Were there four people growing 300 plants together with their prescriptions in view of the grow? (caregiver rules, i get 99 plants for myself in MA, and 99 for person i care give for(only can for one other person right now resulting in only 198 plants in a single grow.) My buddy is RI is able to grow hundreds of plants due to their laws down there making RI the most cannabis per square capita in the us

The fact that any drug is still illegal in 2016 is ridiculous though.

How else can we punish the dumbest and most narcisistic of society (like OPs friend)? Undesirable morons exhibiting anti social behavior like the blatant disregard for such a simple law should be removed from society IMO. the drug war is generally an excuse to root them out.
