Can Pregnant Teenagers Be Good Parents?

Often in the new we keep hearing all these right-wingers trying to shut down abortion clinic in the south, and in blue states the planned parenthood and abortion clinic business seems to be booming

What we aren't hearing in the news is pregnant teens that do not want to get an abortion (even if they are able to) and raising the child

I want to know, what do the Newschoolers think about teenagers that are deciding not to get abortions and ultimately decide to raise the child and become parents

Can teenagers be quote on quote "good parents", like can a 16 year old girl and guy raise a child at a young age and become parents?

That Farah girl from teen mom seems to be a good example. She seems like a super good Mom. She started with a kid and now is, at most, a class-D celebrity and looks like a horrible mother. I would say.. success.

But in all seriousness I don't know any teen moms that I would want to have raised me.

Didn't read the thread but my opinion is that yes a teenager can most definitely be a good parent. HOWEVER it is with great sacrifice of many opportunities both personal and professional.

That university you wanted to attend? Maybe part time, online, or a community college instead.
That trip to CO to shred the gnar? Nah, maybe in 10 years when you can bring the kiddo along.
That full time gig at Xcorp? Not unless you want to spend your entire paycheck on daycare.

Another question that I think is more important is what kind of lifestyle do you want for your child? You could be a great parent as a teenager but chances are you wont have a decent paying job (no continued education) to support a child the way you feel they deserve to live.

wait...what? my stance is against teenage pregnancy, not for it...did you think otherwise?

It sort of depends. Here is an extremely successful guy that got his gf pregnant when he was 16, dropped out sophomore year of Highschool and raised his kid in a trailer park. He ended up being a wildly successful youtuber and filmmaker. His kid is a senior in Highschool now and is doing pretty well.

He claims having a kid gave his life importance and lead to his success. Obviously this is not the case for many others, but this shows that it really is possible to be a responsible parent from a young age.
