Why do people put fish hooks on their hats?

Is op talking about that big ass hook that clips onto the bill? Yeah like every hick and their inbred sister has those from my hometown. Are they even used for anything?

Probably not but why do so many skiers wear massive outerwear? are their legs that big hah? It looks cool.
