Health officials suspect patient contracted virus from partner who traveled to Zika zone. The first positive case of Zika virus thought to be transmitted sexually within Canada occurred in Ontario, provincial and federal health officials say.
Testing at the Public Health Agency of Canada's national laboratory in Winnipeg confirmed the infection.
"The individual from Ontario is suspected to have contracted the virus from a sexual partner who was diagnosed with Zika virus after travelling to an affected country," PHAC and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care said in a joint statement Monday."
I find it absolutely hilarious that Canada gives two shits about Lyme. That's what's so sad about it. It amazes me how much action is being taken for zika. Awareness, constant media attention, research, swift action by the medical community. And yet here we are constantly fighting for people to take us seriously. Doing our own research and spending out of pocket for treatments, trying this and that and hoping something will work. It's honestly pathetic.
And yet if we need a blood transfusion, we don't know if it's been infected with Lyme and co-infections. Lyme disease is an epidemic and the fastest growing infectious disease in the world. No one wants to talk about it, no one wants to admit that it can kill you when there are thousands of case studies that prove that it does and that it can be sexually transmitted. Big Pharma realizing that there was no profit in further pursuing the Lyme Vaccine, which actually killed people will play the hush up game and the hundreds of thousands of suffers who are refused treatment and misdiagnosed will continue to live with this invisible, ever-changing illness that is borealis burgdorferi. While there is always a risk of getting Lyme disease in the woods from a tick-bite, there may now be a bigger risk of getting it in the bedroom.
